I agree with barman. A hyphen should improve a domain or at least make sense. Like a few hyphens I own are: Dog-Depression.com , Kill-Ants.com , Pretzel-Logic.com and Body-Aches.com . The hyphens make sense. I'm not saying they are great domains, but people will likely remember where the hyphen goes and it wont need explaining.
Putting a hyphen after the first letter makes no sense and people will likely remember web-design.com instead.
