domain Visiophony

Hello the Community,

I would be grateful to get your reactions and possible appraisals for
Visiophony.com.

I heard/read this term on recent articles related to UMTS, the new generation of mobile system that allows you to see your interlocutor on your mobile. I find the term interesting and promissing, although there is no OVT traffic result for it yet there are a hundred of very explicit & exciting pages about Visiophony on Google. As far as I know (for having checked before registering the name) there is no TM on it.

Is it similar to 'videophone'? Not a key term now but the best way is to keep the name for future market, IMHO. I feel this dn is a nice shot, Jean-François!! :bingo:
Ps. 'Visiophone' looks nicer for commercial use in this branch; -phony is better for company website (kind of provider).

I suspect that this term is indeed similar to videophone, but a quick google search shows that its used primarily in France. Since it's unlikely that it will replace the more globally-popular term 'videophone', I don't think visiophoy or visiophone will have significant value outside France.

Still, its a decent domain. Good luck!

If so that as I've checked up (http://www.afnic.fr/) the domain "visiophony.fr" is still available for registration. Maybe this is better choice than .com??!

A term 'visiophony' looks more popular in Europe than overseas; I found also some Alcatel solution (3g tech) with 'visiophony' and wouldn't be sure if this expression is not TM issue in France, hmm.

Can't see it used in the global market

I agree with most of the above posters. This term is not used in the US and probably most of the global market. I like the above posters idea of getting the .fr ccTLD.

THANK you Hookah, Armstrong and 111Media for your detailed comments and kind search. I have looked into international/national databases, including France, and found no TM or Patent related to it; Visiophony is used as a real word in various documents. Obviously it is not a popular word even in Europe. So, as per Hookah's advice, I will keep it aside waiting real development of the system, and dream about an offer -why not- from Alcatel/Fujitsu ! Do not ask me to get the .fr, I do not even know now why I bought the .com, why I got this name no matter what & despite myself !
