Please check out my new utility for finding domain names, the Very Wise Name Generator! VWNG.com

The tool can be used to suggest names pulled from any inputed text... a news story, blog entry, song lyrics, short story or anything else you can think of!

How it works: paste your text into the text box (for this example try going to Google news, & copy a news story)

Add a character limit if you wish. The rejects any results that are longer than your limit.
Add excluded words. eg you can exclude results ending with of,and,to,will etc

Click submit. The VWNG will then return your result that you can past into the Moniker bulk domain checker, estibot, or your favorite domain tool.

Please have a go and let me know what you think. Any suggestions most welcome. Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks
Simon

PS I know the site is very plain at the moment, I just want some feedback on the actual utility.

very nice, maybe exclude the "less than" 3 chars words, as they are all taken and useup space, a logo would be very nice.

i see this in a green-yellowish layout ;)
cheers!

Works very fast.
Would be very useful if there is an output option showing available domain names.

I just ran a short news story through VWNG and got the some cool results including the following unregistered .COMs :

SnoopOn.COM

ToSnoop.COM

ToCombat.COM

TheySeem.COM

I had a 8 char limit applied, which seems to work well.

Very nice. Nice and simple just like Google. I like it. Maybe get some Adsense above or below?

Would love to but unforunately I was removed from adsense (though no fault of my own). Can you suggest any other alternatives?

i love it! will add a link with the tools at namehugger

an availability checker would be great - but only if it uses a safe whois (like moniker). i've questions about godaddy (some have reported searches appearing in the next close inquiry suggestions).

if you could find a safe availability checker that gave a commission on registering those names, you'd have a revenue stream even before ads.

also, affiliate name/ hosting ads are a good option.

Nice- I did a search and found LiveFriday.com and TourismHaven.com

I didn't reg them so they are still available for anyone who's interested (post here if you reg them)

Some feedback: signal-to-noise ratio could be better. There appear a lot of nonsensical names for each name that makes sense.

It's a good start, though.

Very nice new tool. A lot of weeding-out to do so would help if you had options for us to check, for example I'd check off 'no AND, OF, BY' words themselves, if that can be done without also cancelling words that contain those letter strings within them.
Nice and fast instant results, and I do like the relatively simple interface. Of course you'll eventually want a logo and maybe a few more option fields/buttons but I enjoyed the simplicity right now.
I did paste in a few news items, had to sift through thousands of results (after pasting all into a domain checker, of course) and here are some of the more interesting names that appeared. All are available to reg:
moreCompetition.com
firmBehind/s.com
largeMajority.com
emergencyFee/s.com
payingCosts.com
treeHell.com
MamaPoem.com
postBoth.com
websiteThanks.com -- I like something about that :)
hugeSlab/s.com
formerDirector.com
constantDemand.com
beCleaned.com -- great, great brandable for cleaning service/products.
very90s.com
very80s.com -- etc with other years.
tissueSample.com
theDiseased.com -- like that one. Could be a band name, ha.
lifetimeRegimen.com
peoplesDNA.com
parkResident/s.com

And a few more that I'll investigate further and possibly reg :)

Yet another nice new tool to use for hunting available domains. Thanks for the effort, repping you.

Hey Bannen, glad you like the tool! You can remove those words and it's set to remove them by default (see the excluded words textboxs).

What are people using as input text? I usually use a news story, that way you get results that can be brand new concepts (HurricaneIke for example)

cheers,
Simon

Yes, I see how that works now, I hadn't paid much attention to how that functions but now it's so obvious, dopey me. I'll try more searches later tonite. I tried pasting in news stories, but even better is pasting in the very newest tech, from startup sites like killerstartups.com. Should get some interesting new words and ideas that way. I'll let you know.
I did reg one name that showed up on your tool, bloodRun.com, today. Blood Run is the name of a movie, a book, a health run, so seemed useful. Thinking about a handfull more :)

Got some links working (sort of) click the link to check availablility. Slight problem though, it's not displaying correctly in the textbox, have to work out how to do that

Latest update: results are now automatically checked to see if the .com is available! This slows things down of course so if you have a lot of text to process then I suggest you start it off and leave it running for a while. Let me know what you think!

can i say i miss the old version?

i can see why (for monetization purposes) you would want the auto check. but as a daily tool, i find the new version much too slow. also a large proportion of times it gave no results. availables returned a lot of "false positives" (so i presume also "false negatives") also?

i often check for .nets, .orgs, .infos (and add in hyphens before checking .coms) so the auto check isn't really a plus for me. besides, the great thing about the old version was you could put in a whole big chunk of text - returning much more results than moniker bulk check can handle. i found testing the new version i had to drip feed tiny amounts of text, meaning each time only one or two results were vaguely interesting.

it would be great if the old version could be profitable. i was thinking something like justdropped.com. all free, you login, they make money off the ads and also through a weekly sales newsletter -which might be a model to think about?

I understand, the slowness can be a bit frustrating! The red names only indicate that the .coms are taken, many other TLDs may be available for that name. I'm going to make it so that you can choose the new or old version, and also choose which TLDs to autocheck (.net or .in for example)

Great to hear that you're using the tool daily though!!

very fast indeed, my suggestion is add some captcha to avoid stress on the server or to avoid automated searches.

PS. it doesn't return false negatives, if it's red then it's taken. The reason it returns false positives (available) is because if it can't determine if the name is available or not then it marks it as possibly available. But red is always taken.
