I haven't found any official word from VeriSign's site, but the link below says
such has occurred:

Mountain View, CA (AHN) - VeriSign Tuesday announced the resignation of CEO Stratton Sclavos, a 12-year veteran of the Internet company, said VeriSign "can benefit from new leadership."

William Roper Jr., a member of VeriSign's board of directors, was named president and CEO.

If true, I wonder why the song, "Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey
hey, goodbye," is playing in my head...

Well it says there was no wrongdoing... well actually it says no "intentional" wrongdoing. However, I wonder at the timing of his resignation and then about how secure VeriSign is. I think I would like to read more about this resignation before I make up my mind about things.

not necessarily sure that this is a bad/unusual thing; every now and then top management people need to step down. besides, a twelve-year run isn't bad ;).
