Don't get me wrong. I love this board and layout. I noticed though that everyone that puts up a board has to use Vbullitin? I was just wondering why? I mean it costs a arm and a leg to license. why not use YaBBSE? It is just as powerful.

Dont get me wrong I am not pushing YaBB or spamming because it is a free board. I was just wanting to know the logic.

The easiest answer is that the people who use vBulletin probably disagree with this statement. The price reflects the value of the vBulletin hands down. That Invision, phpBB, Yabbse, etc, etc, are all free doesn't mean much if vBulletin is the most advanced forum out, and future developments (3.0) make it even more so. Many of the distinctions I've seen in vBulletin are in the administrative control options.

im aactually debating as well..i want to sart a forum but...i cant seem to compile enough money to get the vb licence and personally i dont wanna pay them when i can get the software that does same thing with PHPBB.

But u know what...right now i am thinking of just going with Vbulletin just because it seems like all professional forums big shots use it...thats all

Otherthen that i think PHPBB is great as well.

IPB, PHPBB, and YaBBSE are all great products. I chose vBulletin for two main reasons, 1) the large community of vbulletin modifications that exist and a good programming structure that allows for expansion and add-ons, and 2) because I know it can handle a large community. The first vBulletin site I ran had 14,000 users and we never had a problem with the script not being able to handle it. (bandwidth is another story)

Yup I go with RJ .I have even started saving up to buy my own VB license. God knows when that day will come.
IPB's Admin panel and Cpanel are much too cumbersome to use.PhpBB is goos but phpbb2 is better

PHPBB is ok for small communities, but when trying to reach big community phpbb is rarely seen.

small=under 5000user??2000users?

BIG=over 10,000 users??

is this generalisation or there are stats....

RJ's choice for VB is that its gott more mods+add-ons+his personal experience!!
