OK. Let's have a case study.

Have this ever happened to you? You get a sudden urge to pickup a dictionary .com. Anything. Whatever. Something.

That's how you end up with words like LOCOISM.com and only then you start wondering - what the heck am I going to do with this?
Yes, it's a real dictionary word - Merriam-Webster.
Yes, all .net .org .info .us .... are available (duh).
Yes, nobody cares about the word except a few overgrown nerds in scrubs writing scientific mumbo-jumbo on this strange topic.

Amazingly enough, the parked page gets hits (1 hit every 2 days) and occasional clicks. That is a mystery to me.

The name's selling potential is close to zero.
So here's the plan:

Collect contact info of those scholars. Approach them one-by-one and plant a thought in their minds - THE WORLD NEEDS A WEBSITE ABOUT LOCOISM. And what could be a better place to publish theirs scientific findings, than LOCOISM.com!
Here's the catch: they're getting the domain for free under one condition - I get to build, host and maintain the site (good thing I'm a pro web developer). Their content, my design, price reasonable.

What do you guys think?

proclivities.com and lawyerism.com - ahahhahah.

I got juiced on Starbucks late one night and woke up the next day married to these domains.

I would say that this particular name is low on the value scale. Locoism... sounds like loco-ism... meaning perhaps "of or referring to crazy"? Doesn't map well to a business IMHO.

However, I think there ARE other obscure dictionary keywords that could have significant value. Akimbo, meaning set "in a bent position" is an obscure keyword domain used by a $30+ million dollar VC backed firm in Silicon Valley. They make set top boxes to download internet content to your television.

In any case... I think its on a domain by domain basis.

Well, I just sent an email to one of the locoism experts (did a Google) just to test the ground. Will keep you all posted.
