I used to use ahead.tv but it is now a dead site. Has anybody else got an alternative?

Thanks in advance!

Name.com has them under "nabber".
Hexonet has them and ranks them.
Domainmonster backorder you can view them

Only the next 5 days at a time. Individuals have lists they track :)

That's Top Secret information right there - except NP has a search function....

When we are talking about dropping - I was monitoring .tv drop from enom (standard reg fee). While in pending delete, name appeared on domain nabber (someone backorder it), but id didnt appear on NameJet at all. Any idea why? Usually all Enom drops goes to NJ (exclusive while in pre-release).

And another interest thing - sig.tv is currently dropping from Enom and is exclusive to NameJet (20 bids atm). How come it is not repriced as premium (NJ doesnt handle premium .tvs)?

Sig is available to backorder at name.com as of this post.

Lol :) I see nothing special about that name. It did get ordered fast though, haha!

Theres nothing special, its just interesting that Enom didnt reprice it premium, like all other LLL drops (and this one has mining).

As it is exclusive to NJ, as per pre-release deal between Enom/NJ, ther is no point to backorder it with name or other registrar, IMHO.

How do you find out which names are exclusive to namejet?

At NJ go domains from eNOM, register.com, tucows and Moniker mainly. And from some smaller registrars.
Regarding .tv if it is premium name it is not going to NJ.
Sig.tv i have no idea if it was premium, if it was it would be not at NJ now but some times they make mistakes.
Backorder is not useful for it, either it will go to bidder if not Premium, or name.com will ask at least $450 for the backorder.
A strange fact about this name is that has only one month expiring period at ENOM (and not 40 days as the non premiums)

Where did you read that Premiums MUST go back to Verisign and cannot be taken over and renewed like every domain?

I would have thought that as all .TV could be repriced and have premium fee added at any time that the rules regarding the handling of .TVs at drop would be the same for all. Obviously a lot of names go through Namejet so it appears that non-premiums will stay that way AS LONG AS THEY AREN'T DROPPED.

So are you talking legacy premiums or "new" premiums? Will all March 19th and later premiums end up at Namejet/Dynadot/Name pre-release?

This could be very lucrative for these services if they can auction off reg-fee renewals for names that would be premium if dropped.

The whole registrar renewal of domains/auctions during "pre-release" is shady. I'm not sure that NJ makes mistakes - I think NJ has a very calculated business model. Add in the whole .TV premium model and there's a really bad smell.

As Manos wrote, Enom drops goes to NJ. While domain is in pre-relase state, it will be flagged as exclusive at NJ, and if receives bid at NJ, it will never actually drop, it will be pushed to bidder account at enom. If there is no bid, standard pending-delete/delete happens and you can try to catch it manually, with api, other backorder service etc.

You can subscribe to NJ exclusive drop list at their site.

NameJet doest not handle old or new premium .TV domains. Dynadot deals with them, but does not have backorder service. Name deals with them also, and has its own backorder service.

The whole registrar renewal of domains/auctions during "pre-release" is shady.

Tell us about that... :)

How do we know this?

If I spend $xxxx on a premium at ENOM come expiration it's still a "regular" renewal.

Why wouldn't this go to NJ? How do we know it doesn't? Has anyone deleted a new premium priced domain yet?

The only way this would happen would be if Verisign enforced some rule I'm not aware of. If NJ sells it at auction and it renews and goes to a new owner - Verisign is none the wiser, right?

JC.

Yes, that repriced domain you bought will have standard renewal fee, but is still flagged premium by Enom. If you try to transfer that domain somewhere, you'll get message that you cant transfer premium domains. And chance is, if you let it expire, it will be priced high again :) Try to delete one from your account and we'll see what happens :)

I just got domain through domainmonster. Thats first time (for me) that DM .tv backorder beat Name.

NJ starts all .tv from $69 and actually can not handle premiums because repricing is done after entering redemption and auction is 7 days before redemption

If you mean a domain starting with am, i monitored it and it was not backordered at name.com half an hour before drop, probably whoever backordered it refunded the backorder.
Anyway name.com has 7 registrars that hit, dm is one so chances are 7-1 between them
