Translation Please

Hello, I recieved the following email today and not sure what it is about. Is it spam because when i used an online translator it didnt make much sense. I think the email is in french. Would someone care to explain to me what this is about:

Il y a quelques jours, Marcel Gotlib était interviewé brièvement au Journal
Télévisé de La Une, à l’occasion de la rétrospective que vous lui consacrez
actuellement. J’imagine qu’il a également honoré de sa présence
l’inauguration de la manifestation en question au CBBD.

Mis au courant de ce projet d’exposition à l’occasion de recherches sur
Internet, j’avais souhaité en savoir plus en vous contactant en temps
utile, d’abord à cette même adresse e-mail, ensuite par téléphone à votre
numéro d’appel général, à défaut d’une réponse. Un de vos collaborateurs,
dans l’ignorance (?), m’avait alors communiqué l’adresse courriel
personnelle de Monsieur Auquier, auprès de qui j’avais réitéré ma demande
de renseignements, à nouveau sans le moindre succès.

Mon principal désir aurait été de rencontrer Gotlib, ne fût-ce que
brièvement, pour lui exprimer ma gratitude pour tant d’années de talent et
d’humour.
Si une simple séance de dédicaces à la librairie Slumberland avait été
prévue, j’aurais bien sûr apprécié d’en être informé.
Le but de ma requête n’était nullement de m’empiffrer d’amuse-gueule ou de
me fignoler une ébriété de mauvais aloi au mousseux tiédi, consécutivement
à une invitation forcée à un hypothétique vernissage.

Peut-être les deux e-mails en question ne vous sont-ils jamais parvenus...
Dans le cas contraire, je vous remercie très sincèrement pour m’avoir fait
perdre l’opportunité d’une rencontre rare et pour avoir eu la courtoisie
tout aussi rare mais si typiquement bruxelloise de ne même pas accuser
réception de ma correspondance électronique. Peut-être n’y exprimais-je
pas suffisamment de ferveur tintinolâtre...

Perhaps the two e-mail in question never reached you... In the contrary case, I thank you very sincerely to have been made lose the rare meeting appropriateness and to have had the courtesy quite as rare but so typically of Brussels not to even acknowledge receipt of my electronic correspondence.

Yes i used an online translator and it doesnt make any sense to me.

I guess it just spam. It come from a bank .be addie.

I own CBBC.be, was wondering wether it had anything to do with it.

lol, those online translators are hilarious. My French is too rusty to do a better job, but I'm sure its not quite as nonsense as google translation suggests!
