Why can'y users other than mods change the displayed title of the thread in the auction forum? Is it so people don't get confused?

Do you mean to "edit/alter" the thread "title" of a Sales or Auction thread if the terms of the Sale or Auction have been revised/modified? :o
There are a myriad of reasons why there is Admin/Mod-only access to this type of capacity, but I want to make sure I understand the question completely first. Generally, as it exists now, I only "modify" a "title" if it's obvious (such as a length issue), though I have "corrected" minor spelling mistakes, as well and typically at the User's request. Mass changing of thread titles could lend to confusion (a member trying to easily locate a specific thread at a later time, for example), at the very least IMHO. In one example, there was a title "One-letter.COM AVAILABLE!" where I received dozens of PM's (it was for the domain name "one-letter.com", NOT A one-letter .COM that was available to register). LOL. I edited this title to, "one-letter.com" AVAILABLE!" to, as I posted, keep us sane. Alex got me on that one, big-time! :p
Thanks.
B-)
