They've also acquired @Strike on Instagram which must have cost at least a few tens of thousands. I'd guess they're paying maybe $10k - $20k/month to lease strike.com, that's about the going rate for a lease on this quality of domain. What's most interesting is that the business doesn't seem to exist yet, the website is a statement of ambition.

Given the name and ambition, my best guess is it is probably a joint venture of a professional athlete + a media person.

edit: they previously used the name strikegoofficial which has comments from people associated with Night management, who use the domain night.co, which is the media management for MrBeast and a bunch of other influencer people. Night has a venture arm. So, I think this is almost certainly a social media brand involving Night ventures. They bought strike.co (they like .co) and they are leasing the .com.

Hmmm. I guess "under exclusive lease from the owner of strike.com" could mean that whoever is launching Strike.com acquired the domain name strike.com but wants to keep the domain name asset separate from the business. So, they're leasing it to themselves?

The previous owner of Strike.com (Central.com) is a public company. The latest filings don't appear to include any reference to the domain, and I guess if it was sold it'll be at least $1m+ which seems like an amount that will show up on their filings, but if the sale happened in the last 2 months, it won't show up until the Q1 filings. So I guess we should find out if it was sold, and if so for how much, next time they file.

Agreed. Maybe they're making it clear they have permission from Central to use the "Strike.com" name, or maybe the buyer (and now owner) of the strike.com domain name is different from 28 Portugal Operations Lda.

Ah, so it turns out Strike is a crypto casino, currently operating under the domain name betstrike.com but has previously had a bunch of names like bitstrike and bitslot.

My new theory is that the casino wanted the domain name Strike.com but Central were unwilling to sell a domain name to a legally questionable casino. Central are a public company in the U.S. and their lawyers probably laid a brick when they found out who the buyer was.

Coincidentally, and certainly not related, after refusing to sell the domain name to a casino, a new lifestyle brand called Strike appeared with grand ambitions. Central were happy to sell the domain to a lifestyle brand. And maybe the terms of the agreement are something like, "you can't turn it into a casino within 12 months of the sale" or something.

So that's my guess, the reason the website is so devoid of substance is because it is only supposed to appear like a real not casino business. And a few months from now, it'll turn into a casino.

One word from the dictionary + org\net\co... Better than two or three words + com, except in very special cases like descriptive domains..
Of course; strike.com is better than strike.co; here he becomes king..
Number domains are sold at very high prices; that's right! But numbers that have meaning and significance...
