Signed up to boxedart

Ok, so i signed up to boxed art and the templates and flash (albeit quite limited) are very good and professional.

However, have i been conned??

All the html pages you can download show the usual template messages such as "your company here", "your slogan here". Ok fine but these messages are embedded into a jpg file and thus you do not have the ability (or so i believe) to change them. If you click on 'custom this design' you get the 'we'll customise this for you, just paypal us another $175'.

I wont be happy if this is a scam! Anyone have any experience with same??

Hello,

The templates that BoxedArt provides are just like any other templates, they are just layout samples of the design. A template is just a backbone for a website, it's not customized for your own company. You need to have a graphic program such as Adobe Photoshop to modify the graphics (change the names, etc...). To modify the flash headers you'll need Macromedia Flash.

You weren't conned, as after all that's what a template is. A non-customized layout that needs to be modified to your name and needs.

Well, check the download for files with .psd extensions. If those are there, you can modify it to suit your needs. Rest assured, boxedart is a well established organisation and they are no frauds.

yep, it aint a scam, im also with them, i especially use there flash templates, they r very easy to edit

You need Adobe Photoshop so that you can edit the graphics. If they provide text files for the flash then you can easily edit it by changing the company name, buttons, etc that way. However, if they don't provide the easily modified text files for the flash, then you'll need Macromedia Flash to edit the banners, intros, etc.... (not just the player, but the full program)

you can use Photoshop, but I prefer Macromedia Fireworks for editing .psd files.,
I use Dreamweaver,and you can export the .psd file straight into html with text and images. If anyone needs any templates, let me know, I have over 7gb of templates.

I just figured since this is a thread on BoxedArt then the templates he was referring to were from there. That goes for any other templates too unless he's got written permission to sell them from the developer or he designed them himself. I don't know too many companies that just give full rights to the purchaser to sell or do whatever they please with the templates. It takes time and resources to make the templates and all too often people are trying to resell or give away copyrighted templates from BoxedArt, Template Monster, etc....
