Hello,
We are looking to expand our current list of designers. We need a designer
who is able to create unique logos, non-templated website designs & code the designs. We are looking for a professional who is available to work and who pays attention to details (including this). Not someone who is available on a, as they want basis. We are looking to hire immediately. We would prefer someone who uses Adobe Photoshop as we do require that some files be sent in PSD format.
In my mind, portfolio's are garbage. I've dealt with some people who have shown me amazing portfolio's but couldn't design a site if their life depended on it. Therefore, this will not be a job posting, but a challenge.
Your challenge will be to design a website for "ABC Apartments Inc". You can design it as an image, or in HTML. It don't matter as long as I see it. It will not be used other then for me to determine if you have the skills we demand. Notice, demand. We do not deal with sub-par websites. The reason we want it to be for "ABC Apartments Inc." is so that we ensure that you can do graphics too and not just send us a random template.
The designer with the best skills will receive 2-3 projects a month to work on for us.
Some other notes. How we work is via email. We do have instant messenger programs however we are not on them 24x7, more like 15-20 minutes a day, yet we are available 24x7 via email (We have blackberries). So, if your going to enter into this you need to understand that most of your communication is to be done via email. If we aren't online, you are to email us.
The winner of this challenge will also receive $40 for submitting their work via Paypal. As with all work our work all payments we make to you will be via Paypal within 30 days of the completion of the entire website. The winner will work closely with us from now on.
Please do not bother sending us pictures that say, "DO NOT RIP" or "DEMO" or "SAMPLE" or what ever as it will only hurt the appeal of your design as "ABC Apartments Inc" is a fake name I've made up.
Do not bother messaging me asking us questions like, what colors did you want and stuff like that as this is not a real site, your to make it all on your own.
The winner will be notified via PM.

I do not have time for people who do not wish to follow the rules I have set fourth. The last designer I had hired didn't work out as she decided in her mind she was going to start changing the way we wanted things done. This isn't acceptable. Same goes with unprofessional people.
We need someone who can meet deadlines and is not doing web design on a "when ever I feel basis".
The designer who wins will end up working closely with us and will be required to design layouts based on our clients needs. We will send you graphics to ensure the sites feel more regionalized.
We want someone who can work in xHTML, CSS and is not dependent on tables. We don't expect templates, we do expect quality and someone who can turn previews around for us within 48 hours.
Communication for the most part will be via email and sometimes instant messenger. As a member of our team you'll be part of an assembly line for websites and reliability is key. We understand people need breaks/vacation however we need someone whose smart and understands that they should give more then an hours notice that they are going on vacation for two weeks.
Sooner you get your jpeg into us, the sooner we can get you started on some projects in our queue as we are swamped.
