pulling url vars with spaces?

I need some help, the service puts out a url like site.com/file.php?custom%20address=value

How do I pull this? I've tried $_GET['custom%20address'], $_GET['custom address']; with no luck, also tried $_REQUEST with the same results.

Underscore.

$_GET['custom_address']

The easiest way of knowing is simply doing this on a PHP script and seeing for yourself.
