In Spain this word is used when a shop is closing and they need to sell everything.

It is a very popular expression meaning to sell off, so the name has a clear commercial value.

Is it at ESNIC?

As far as I know (beeing Spanish), "remates" doesn't mean auction.
I don't know in Barcelona, pertosda, but I don't associate the term "remates" with a strong or well know word. Maybe you were meaning "retales"?

It does not have to do with auctions at all in Spain (in South America it does). However it is used for a store having a sale because they're closing the season or the shop.

As far as i know may be you have to be sure first post in a topic saying that the domain doesnt mean what the seller says. :td:

Look at dictrionary, is for free, as think.

www.rae.es << Here you have a nice one.

Yes, you're absolutely right.
The Spanish language is very rich and a given word can have many different meanings.

"Remates" also means "public auction" in its 7th meaning so, please, give me another chance to continue living.

It doesn't matter if almost nobody use that term with that meaning (at least in Spain), but yes, you're right.

Oh!, something you should learn is that I can say whatever I want to say to a seller, to a buyer or to whoever I want to if I do or.. do you dictate the rules of what's right and what's wrong?.

Be water my friend and have a honest-men day!

Im going to give you a few more definitions because i see that even you dont know how to use a dictionary, you missed some definitions in the same page.

I moan to have to write the examples again beacuse the lasts has been removed with the other joker like you that posts the same things in this same topic...

remate.
(De rematar).
4. m. Postura o proposición que obtiene la preferencia y se hace eficaz logrando la adjudicación en subastas o almonedas para compraventas, arriendos, obras o servicios.
5. m. Adjudicación que se hace de los bienes que se venden en subasta o almoneda al comprador de mejor puja y condición.
7. m. Subasta pública.

Anyway there is no priority to the definitions, there are CONTEXT :).

If you search "remates" in google you get this sponsored links...

Keep things easy.

"Remates" means "Auctions" in spanish but ONLY in South America.

We all agree on that ;)

The sponsored search was in www.google.es.

In google.com.ar, google.com.mx, and other southamerica TLDs you get other acution Sponsored Links.

ebay.es sponsors themself in google.es because in spain nobody use it...

If you believed they put a man on the moon....

Thanks for comments.

Yes, I guess there are south americans in Spain...

REMATES does not mean auctions in spanish from Spain

That is not a sin, it is a fact.

Please take into account you can bring non-spanish speakers into confusion, which wouldnt be honest.

Dear forum people,

Due to this explanations i want to say that "remates" means "auctions" in Spain territory but only for south american people, so be caerfully with your target.

All arround the rest of world (in the other spanish world) you can associate "remates" with "auctions".

But wait a moment more, becuase in Spain for natives is not so bad...

BTW I thought you made a typo writing "acutions" but I just noticed you wrote "acutions" all the times...

The correct english spelling is "AUCTIONS" for the south american expression "remates".
