I'm not selling this, but I'd like to know what you guys think about this domain. I know if I hold it and develop it this could be real big.

Reggaeton is music that is now just beginning to become popular in the mainstream. It is basically Spanish rap/reggae. Daddy Yankee is becoming a household name. Noreaga (NORE) a rap artist is also trying to make reggaeton big. There are several US rappers now jumping on the reggaeton bandwagon. The major radio stations (English one's) are even playing some of the music. The music itself is in it's infancy. In Spanish this is like the equivalent to rap. Reggaeton is also gaining in popularity throughout Central and South America, it is still mainly music from Puerto Rico (and Panama), but there are reggaeton fans all over now and the fan base is just growing.

Not sure about the indian comunity on this one. Personally i would pre reg this one when the new .es extension comes live for spain.

Don't think the .in helps with the name at all. If it were .com it'd be worth something.

I don't think the .es extension will help any on this. Reggaeton isn't really that big in Spain (as far as I can tell) it's mostly in the Americas.

It's not a band it's a type of music (ex. salsa, rock, rap, etc...).

I know the extension doesn't help at all, but it's a good one word. In India they probably don't even know what reggaeton is.

^yeah, deu is right. It is not big in spain at all (doubt its played at all). Its origins come from Puerto Rican, Cuban type... and yes its becoming very popular in USA and South America of course.
the .in extension yeah doesnt help at all- however yeah its a GOOD one word domain... might possibly be able to sell it to someone who owns another reggaeton extension? so the value ccould really go either way here.

I disagree. Many Indian people I have met, and talked to, in the USA all know spanish... some better than me!!! They are a very talented people. They know probably several languages in their own country, plus English and Spanish.
I don't think that will matter anyway. Reggaeton is the hottest thing going right now in the latin music culture. (IMO). I think someone other than an Indian person will buy the domain anyway, strictly because they can own "Reggaeton". They won't be from Spain either. Think Mexico, or south!!

Ps- DEU12000 is correct 100% in all his statements. Hell, I'm 53 ,and I know who Daddy Yankee is. If you haven't heard of him by now..... you will!!!

Just regged the .bz version. I think the .bz might be even better since Belize is in Central America (right in between Mexico and Guatemala).

You're right I have met some people from India that do speak Spanish, but then again I've met people from a lot of countries that speak Spanish.

Reggaeton is taking the music industry by storm right now. If you ever put on Univision or any of the Spanish channels you will see that it's gone as mainstream as being featured on family programming that usually isn't friendly to this kind of music. It's crossing over now to other languages and cultures, I think it will soon break into a lot more countries than just the Americas and Carribean. In the US alone you have millions of people that listen to reggaeton. Just to make up a number I'd say the number of reggaeton listeners worldwide exceeds 50 million people. It's what the youth is listening to in several countries. Any rap or reggae, even singing in Spanish most of it is classified as reggaeton depending on the instrumental it's on.
