I think this will be helpful to newbies and people alike (such as me) that would like to learn programming but are not sure which language suits them better. I've been programming for about 6 months now and trying to absorb as much as I can, but the ammount of material to learn can be quite intimidating with all the programming terms being thrown around.

With that said, I think it'll be a good idea to write out a list of the more popular programming languages and their respective pro's and con's.

For example:

---PHP---
Pros: open-source, easy to learn, clean syntax
Cons: not very object-oriented?
Applications: dynamic websites, online databases

---Javascript---
Pros: do funky stuff with websites
Cons: weird syntax, client can see your code...
Applications: e-mail validation, annoying status bar marquees

--Java---
Pros: good OOP, easier syntax than C++
Cons: ?
Applications: many... (?)

---J2EE / C#.NET
Pros: ?
Cons: ?
Applications: ?

Euphoria certainly aint a new language, but I guess you should be able to find the tutorials you want at their website:
http://www.rapideuphoria.com/

I see it more as an alternative to compiled languages as C than to PHP and ASP though.
