ok, so I have this website baseballgm.com that's going to be a monster when it's finally launched. it's already a PR4.... but I want more. I want it to be a PR 5 or 6 by the time it's launched... Any suggestions on how to achieve this without reciprocal linking? I would be ever so grateful (which usually translates into a small namepros bucks gift for you). Cheers,
John

I think you already know the answer. Reciprocal linking.

PageRank is a measure of te importance of your page, higher the inbound links pointing to yoru website, higher your PR will be.

I think PR5 is possible with good efforts. A genuine PR6 will take genuine efforts and lots of time. Eevn our belover NamePros is PR6.

Also adding more pages of content to your site may help make it eligible for a higher PR. But as you know, most PR is based on linking.

I heard that its like a point system of links. So any link will like count as 1 'point' while a pr5 inbound link will be like '5000' and you have to add all your points up etc.. At least I think thats how it works.

I've always believed that the quantity of inbound links is only secondary to the quality. Try to get as much thematically relevant links.

I know these from personal experience. I have two domains with no content. One has 11 back links and it has a PR6. The other is a PR5 with only 7 back links. You can see sites with hundreds or even thousands of back links just having the same PR, some even lower.

I have reason to believe that the latest "update" of Google was done to filter irrelevant back links. Many reported losing considerable amount of back links to their sites. No penalties though because most retained their PR. But sites with quality back links were "rewarded" with increase in PR.

Attaining PR6 is fairly easy. The real test is to reach PR7 :)

BTW, I have a sports related site (PR5). Currently building back links for it. I will be glad to to exchange links with you :tu:

Good Luck.

create a similar site and exchange links off of that site and request an inbound link to your new site.

Not a good idea :)

There are already many quality sports sites that you can courteously ask links from. You don't need to spend your effort in building a site that will give you only limited benefits. It might even cause you a "red flag". Better to concentrate your efforts in a single site.

Regards.

The problem is youre going to have to exchange links with them and put them all over your new great site if you only have one. which sucks.
If you have two - (or they have two but then you have to ask and explain it and wait and hope/search on/for other webmasters) you both can have the benefit of one-way links. Which of course are way more powerful and makes the building links process less time consuming.

One site wont give no red flags - multiple sites is a normal practice to build PR Just dont get crazy and abuse the system - Dont get to complicated in the design
put some sports information on it and there you go.
Just build one about the top 10 best hitters or homeruns -
That is useful info and people like simple and quick info sometimes.
