Appraisal For www.LetsWrite.Org
Appraisal For:
LetsWrite.org
Disclaimer:
I want to start by saying I'm not the best or claim I know what I am talking about, but I hope that this research I did gives you some perspective on the possible value to your domain name. This appraisal is based on my opinion only. You are free to use this appraisal however you wish, but credit should be given to x11joex11 (iTechware Inc.)
Words: Lets,Write
TLD: Implies Organization.
TLD Rank: 3
Appraisals I do are based on '4' Factors. These factors either
affect the time it take to sell the domain name or it's
$ value. A lot of domainers forget that while a domain name might eventually sell for a great amount of money, you may have to wait years before you get that money and it's up to you to decide if that's worth it.
Domains will be valued according to it's predicted
RESELLER value and
END USER value.
1.) TLD Value & Competition (
Affects $ Value) (Can
Affect Time->Sell Value)
2.) Domain Name Characteristics (
Affects Time->Sell Value)
3.) SEO Value (
Affects $ Value)
4.) Domain Sales Comparables (
Affects $ Value &
Affects Time->Sell Value)
1.) TLD Value & Competition
In order to understand TLD value you have to first understand what I call the 'TLD Value Ladder'. That is to say, certain TLD's are worth more then other TLD's. There are many ways to determine what makes one TLD better then another, the best way is with financial data, then by usage data. Also the area in which the domain is being used can affect it's value for ccTLD's (for example, like .tv, .cc, .eu, .uk, .cn)
With this in mind, we'll start with the financial data.
One of the best ways to determine the value of a TLD versus another, is to see the difference in average price sales between the LLL (Letter,Letter,Letter) versions of the domains. For example, if the domain name of something random like rhj.com sold for $3000 and rhj.net sold for $800, and the only difference is the TLD, this gives you an idea of which TLD is better. There are a few exceptions to this rule in which the TLD is best suited for the domain name before it. Such cases occur with the TLD .mobi for example, which actually sells much better when aligned with NNN (Number, Number, Number) domain names. Another example is popular sites like del.icio.us, which took advantage of the sub domains to make it an easy to remember name. In situations like this exceptions have to be made to the TLD Valuation & have to be done so by using Sales Comparable data to be more accurate.
In the case of your domain name LetsWrite.Org, The .Org TLD Implies organization and I think suits the domain name alright. I wouldn't say it's any better then .net or .com in my opinion so I don't think there would be any bias because of the domain name. With this in mind, let us continue.
The site I use for LLL value reference is called, 3character.com. It appears to be reputable in the community.
According to my research the following TLD's are worth the most. Number 1 is the most valuable.
1.) .com - $4550 (+ $50 since November 15, 2010 report)
2.) .net - $400 (Unchanged)
3.) .org - $195 (Unchanged)
4.) .info - $40 (Unchanged)
5.) .biz - $20 (Unchanged)
6.) .us - $30 (Unchanged)
Part of the value in this section is on the assumption that if someone is willing to pay the registration fee for the TLD's underneath yours in the TLD Value Ladder then that is at least how much they would be willing to pay for your better domain that is higher up in the TLD Value Ladder. Also you must not own the other TLD's or this is pointless.
With this in mind, these are the current registrations of the other TLD's for your domain name as referenced from domainsite.com.
The following TLD's are currently registered with your domain name. Domains in
Bold are under you in the TLD Ladder and could be potential buyers. Domains with the purple asterisks
(**) are domains that appear to currently have real websites present and therefore could be a seriously interested party to your domain name.
Domain-------- Availability-------- Price
letswrite.com-------- Taken --------$9.99
letswrite.net-------- Taken --------$9.99
letswrite.org-------- Taken --------$9.99
letswrite.info-------- Taken --------$2.99
letswrite.co.uk-------- Taken --------$25**
letswrite.de-------- Taken--------$9.95
letswrite.it-------- Taken--------$99
letswrite.mn-------- Taken--------$55
Those domain owners whom have your domain name registered on TLD's lower on the ladder are more likely to be interested in your domain name. Especially if they are paying large renewal fees for there TLD. You could assume that if the price to get your better TLD (in this case the .org) renewed every year was less and it's a higher TLD in the TLD Value ladder that 50% of whatever there renewal fees are would probably look like a really good buy to them.
So what I do is I tally up what every current domain registration renwal fee is for the domains that are taken and divide by half and add them up, to get an idea of it's possible immediate TLD competition $ value. I do this because the theory is as there is more competition the value will start to naturally climb.
If one of the domains has an existing website on it and is below you on the TLD ladder this could be a very interested buyer and so this increases your time to sell value as well.
--Value This Section So Far--
Time To Sell (END USER):
I only see one good registrant with End User potential at that LetsWrite.co.uk site. If he decides to buy this could be a good End User sale, but if he doesn't this could take many months to years to sell based on only this data anyways.
Time To Sell (RESELLER):
With proper work you could probably find some buyers from the other registrants and convince them of a sale within a couple of months or less.
Value (RESELLER):
$30.00 (1/3 of END USER Prediction)
Value (END USER):
$96~
2.) Domain Name Characteristics
There are '5' characteristics that are important to domainers when it comes to the name it's self.
What characters are used?
How many characters are used?
Does the TLD Make sense with the domain name?
Does it contain words, and if yes, then how many and are those words 'good' words?
Are the characters/words pronounceable and/or easily spelled?
Domains names that have these elements on average tend to sell much easier and faster.
According to 3character.com and I quote,
The quality of the letter composition can play a significant role in determining 3-letter valuations. General concensus states that the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T are considered premium letters. Other lesser high quality letters include: J, K, U, V, W. Lower quality letters include: Q, X, Y, Z. Domains selling for less than the above figures would represent a strong buy in today's market. Premium letter only domains tend to fetch a 500% to 600% premium (or more) over the Minimum Wholesale Price. Mixed letter quality domains have valuations somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.
With this in mind you can assume the shorter the domain name with the better characters that can be pronounced the more valuable it is and the faster the domain name can be sold on the market.
Your domain name contains two words of interest.
Lets & Write
Both are easy to remember how to spell and are rather short. The total length of your domain name is 9 which is acceptable.
There is an entire article that is really interesting on the subject of keywords and character length and how it can affect your sales. It's located below and is my reference.
http://icannwiki.org/Domain_Name_Value_by_Keyword_and_Length
To make it simple the article basically says that.
Single word domains sell for more money.
If you have two words then you want ideally 11 characters. 8 was also said to be good.
I want to also quote this from that site...
two-keyword domain names do not follow a regular trend-line, with 4-letter, 11-letter, 16-letter and 19-letter names outstripping names of all other length.
So you are not in the best character length as far as the averages are concerned, but it's not terrible.
-- Value this Section --
Time (Reseller):
I believe your name doesn't fall into the category of making it easier to sell for the reseller significantly based on it's name, so there is no change here.
Time (End User):
Finding a buyer whom likes 2 keyword domain names in this character length is much more difficult according to my research, so this might add some months, possibly years to your time to sell at the End User Prices.
3.) SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Value
Having the domain name of the keyword you want to target greatly increases your chance of ranking higher for that keyword. Ranking higher means you get a bigger percentage of the traffic that the keyword yields. This is a big reason why a lot of these domain names have any value to begin with.
First it's important to understand what it is that makes a website get to the top of Google and the role the domain name plays in this.
A good article on this is below and I use it as my reference.
seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors
In particular the part about domain names is here.
Keyword Use in the Root Domain Name (e.g. keyword.com)
60% high importance
seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors#ranking-factors
Look in the On-Page Ranking Factors, it's #3 in terms of ranking importance.
This is a big reason why some people will pay so much money to acquire certain domain names.
Lets take a look at how much traffic your domain name could help bring someone.
Using the Free Google Keyword Tool (Referenced Below)
adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
I found that "Lets Write" gets 480 global searches every month and 28 people that exactly type in just that.
In my experience and I'm quoting from my experience as a Google Adwords Certified Partner I have found that it takes about '100 visitors' before some sort of response occurs. Lets say you wanted to just put AdSense on your site to make some revenue. The average income you can get from clicks these days is about $0.65-$0.85. This means if you divide 480 by 100 and assuming you could get all of that 480 monthly traffic by holding the top position of Google, you could look to get around $3-5 in clicks per month and this domain would greatly help with your ranking ability to do so.
--Value This Section--
Value (Reseller):
A reseller might pay $12 based on it's SEO value alone.
Value (End User):
With this in mind, $3-$5X12 = $36-$60 is what a End User might pay to just buy it as an investment tool to make extra money on.
4.) Domain Sales Comparables
The reference I use for this is dnsaleprice.com
I could not find very good sales comparables using the .org TLD so what I decided to use was .com sales comparables and will adjust it using the difference in average price sales of LLL.com to LLL.org as noted from 3character.com
-- Less Characters Or Not Same Characters But Similar Words (**Less Relevant) --
LetsSee com $2,500 Oct 10 Sedo DNJournal
--9 Character Similar Concept or Words (**Most Relevant)--
WriteClub com $2,400 Jun 09 Afternic
LetsDance net $1,388 Nov 08 AfternicDLS
LinkWrite com $130 Jan 09 Afternic
LetSearch co.uk $2,319 Dec 10 Sedo
All of these domains only contain 'half' the words you used, but at least some of them are similar. The one that interests me the most is writeclub.com & letsSee.com, these both sell in the $2,500 range, .org tends to be worth about 4.2% of what .com names sell for, so that might put your End User price variation in the $105 range or High $XX - Low $XXX. There appears to be a lot of domains names that sell with the keyword lets & write so it's possible if priced right you could sell this rather quickly.
-- Final Conclusion --
Reseller Price: $30~42~ or Low $XX to Mid $XX
End User Price:$90~150~ or Low $XXX
End User Time->Sell: Could be couple of months if selling to the other domain registrants otherwise, 1-2 Years+ is a very real possibility. Selling based on SEO factors might help sell it for a little bit more, but not a lot.
I hope this appraisal helps give you some more insight into the value of your domain name. I think it does have some potential value to it since it is a high ranking TLD and the keyword is 'okay'. I did not do a complete and proper appraisal of it's SEO value, so the domain may be worth a little less if the competition is strong for your keyword. You can ask me for details on this if you are interested.
