Why did you register this domain with "wd" at the start, if you weren't trying to match Western Digital's domain? To appraise the domain, we would need to know what else "wd" might mean.

appraisal: 0$

http://www.trademarkia.com/wd-78488844.html

in this case, its so obvious TM issue
(WD + harddrives , both in the domain name!!).

no matter with which reasons you come up now, its obvious that you mean "western digital".

this name can be taken away from the owner (now you) easily.

you (and nobody else) don't wanne go the "no no, i mean western development" or "white dwarf hard drives" way.
no chance IMO

drop it and stay away from such blatant TM regs in the future.

This is a USA trademark, im based in the UK, there are hundreds of WD trademarks in the UK but these are logos not the letters WD. I bought the domain to set up West Down Hard Drives, as I thought wd.com was the main domain of western digital and didnโ€™t search for any other variations. I have never heard of domaining until last month and western digital is not that well promoted in the UK. Here is a link to the TM UK page if interested

i personally think you won't have any chance with your "west down" idea, because of the addition "harddrives", even in UK.

i think if WD would decide to take it away from you, they would probably win the case. additionaly they have the similar .com name, so this adds to the "confusion" factor and their chance.

so what do you want to sell with your website?
only hard drives??
i don't know a single computer electronics shop, just selling harddrives.

or do you want to produce hard drives?? i don't think so.

Gifted, you would think I have stolen your dog with the way your are reacting, I donโ€™t own 100's of domain names, I own 3, all related to hard drives and media players.

The letters WD are not trademarked but the logo is thatโ€™s what I was tiring to explain. I am not after a quick buck just wanted to know what I should do with it ?

Burnsy, GiftedDomains has saved you by pointing this out. Look I had a similar dilemma years ago. I thought it was all fine until the company decided to make a Big move to the UK. My domain was taken away from me with ease. Just like taking a candy from a baby! for legal reasons I cannot name the company so Look listen to experience domainers, Gifted has even taken the time to do a little research for you and all I can see is a silly reply from you "Gifted, you would think I have stolen your dog with the way your are reacting"
Your domain is worthless due to the potential legal ramifications it will be a no go area for any domain investor with a brain. Off course this is my opinion only nothing personal.

Good Luck.

/\ Nice testiomial rich repped

If the name had zero to do with western d then its just two letters in front of harddrives on a .co.uk Plus western d owning and very much using the dot com in association with a TM. This name a zero $0 all day long. Try for a refund if you just reg it.

Thanks for the advise, I have emailed WD to say that if they want the domain name I will transfer it for free, yet to get a reply!, I became interested in domaining through this mistake and want to take it a bit further, its maybe off topic but I have found around 20 domain names that I wish register in bulk, any advise on this? There seems to be a lot of variation on the prices of the same domain!

Well Look no one jumps into business with their eyes closed. Domaining is a very tough business but if you get the basic fundamentals right you should be okay. I advise you research on a few areas before registering any domains especially the three below.
. Registering a domain/ tld /cctld/TM issues/Keyword Research /
. Seo
. Domain Development ( This should cover back links, adwords, marketing, bla bla bla)

In my view there are two types of domainers.

1. A flipper domainer. This is a savy domain Investor who will buy and sell domains for profit. The ability to spot a domain with potential buy them at a cheap price and sell it to end users is an art.

2. A domain developer. These are domainers who develop websites to add value to their domains and then flip it at a later date for profit.

If I was you I will begin with option two. But remember people who rush into business are usually the ones who fail. So forget about those domains for now, do your research, and then dive in
