(addition)
There's still a huge corporate/enterprise market for dedicated firewall appliances. It's not
sec about firewall software on personal computers or combinations with (or part of) Antivirus software.
Such multifunctional hardware appliances often come with VPN solutions, load balancing & failover, and optional threat protection solutions as mentioned in my earlier posting. Even though several of these solutions are now combined into one appliance, the term "firewall" is still often used as a central piece in a larger security deployment.
With regard to the term
"Trusted", this is also a common term in the security market:
We also have
"Trusted Hardware" (and, Hardware Assurance):
So, I can fully understand the reasoning for registering such a combination by
@Victor84. IBM named one of their solutions
Trusted Firewall (part of IBM
PowerSC). And Cisco used the same term in the past. I congratulate new domainer
@Victor84 for making this combination in .com (we've seen worse combinations here, I think). But I want to give this warning: I've not done any IP/Trademark research for these terms, so this may still be tricky.
For the sake of my curiosity, let's end with a quick look at domains / websites with "firewall" and "firewalls" in the .com, .net, and .org TLDs.
- Firewall.com - a simple directory listing (outdated)
- Firewall.net - this redirects to a scammy site
- Firewall.org - owned by GFI Software, a company specialized in network security (TLS not configured correctly). Redirects to GFI Languard.
- Firewalls.com - a developed firewall hardware & software ecommerce website
- Firewalls.net - a parked page
- Firewalls.org - a parked page
I'm surprised to see that only a few of these domains have developed websites.
