Have had tape.com since 1994. Sold it a few years ago (with website) and now have it back. Trying to figure out what to do with it. Build it out again or sell it.

Global Monthly Search 37,200,000 - CPC $1.20

Thanks for any help!

I would say this is a solid 6 Figure name and a Category Killer....simply put it's a great name. With the proper end user you could almost expect 7 figures if lucky in my eyes. Development although I think would be the most lucrative choice honestly.

Great name!

Category defining .COM. Lots of end users.

To an end user the sky is the limit.

Obvious use and value to countless end users for the hundreds/thousands of kinds of tape, of course; I also like a music angle for this one especially, branding for a recording studio (to 'tape' songs). Karaoke, recording equipment, sound equipment, etc.

Nice.
Easily high xx,xxx to anywhere in the xxx,xxx range low or high, according to the end users' pockets and interest.

Killer name :)
Do you own other premium domains too, or are you a non-domainer who simply has this name due to a long term interest in it?

Welcome to Namepros

PS - exact monthly google searches is the only number people pay much attention to since it is more accurate; exact monthly searches for tape: 49,500

Excellent name!

Nice to hear you got it back again. As said above, potential end users are countless. I would value it at $100k end user.

4 letter, dictionary word domain name = very valuable

I can see a company like 3M or Duck Brand being very interested in tape.com

How many businesses sell tape in the world who would love to have this domain name? I think you are better off finding a professional way of approaching Scotch Tape, Duck Tape, and similar companies. They are definitely going to be willing to pay the sky for this name. I would find a broker or a professional platform to list it. Advertise it like crazy. Stir up a buzz. I think developing it could be less worthwhile, for the work it might require. This could be some nice easy cash which could be used on other projects or life in general. Best of luck and congrats on an amazing name!

Yes, I've been in the music business all my life (writer/producer/player/engineer) and originally got this domain when I started selling blank tapes to end users. Actually started selling on ARPANET in 89! Got the name in 94.

Do you own other premium domains too, or are you a non-domainer who simply has this name due to a long term interest in it?

I have a few others that I picked up for my business, Cassette House, but I don't think they have much value. I have blankmedia.net and blank-media.com

Thanks for the feedback and clarification, much appreciated!

I've thought about this angle also but just don't know where to start.

List your name on Sedo.com, Afternic.com. Sedo will easily include this on their 'top domains' list that shows up on the home page and rotates their best names. You might try GreatDomains.com (they are Sedo's platform for premium-only names) but read their TOS carefully as listing there might impose guidelines you don't like. There are other platforms as well but these are the most well-known.

Sedo has domain brokers you can hire.

You can also open up a new thread here and ask for a domain broker (insist on seeing qualifications and experience too), a few members here qualify well and may help you for a commission. You can open a similar thread over at the other great domain forum DNF.

Good luck :)

This seems like a mid 6 figure domain :imho:

IMO you're looking at low 6 figures.
No doubt this is a great domain but tape suggests outdated technology to me :) Fortunately there are several possible uses.

I agree about "tape" being outdated for recording (my original reason for getting it). A little searching finds all kinds of other tape. Hockey tape (who knew?), modeling tape, Kinesiology tape, Industrial tapes of all kinds. My gut (for what it's worth) tells me mid 6.

3M are domain-aware. Don't know if they are heavy buyers though.
Good luck :)

Wow . . .just a solid name. I would say high $xx,xxx to low $xxx, xxx.

You could be THE online supplier of tape for all its uses or do a flip and sell it for top dollar to any of the big tape manufacturers.

. . . or you could give it to me ;). But seriously, very nice name!

A lot more money is in the stock market. I thought of ticker tape when I saw this.

You got couple of options:
1. Sell it to a reseller for mix $xx,xxx to high $xx,xxx
2. a) Sell it to an end user for $xxx, xxx or more. Do some research on finding end users and send out e-mails and call some of them.
or
2b. Hire a broker (Sedo or Afternic) to sell the domain for you. You can get more money by doing this.
