I decided to go on a spree of registering domain names that might have some value - this is yet to be seen as I have only had these for a few weeks.

I was hoping I could get some advice as to how I can start selling these domains quickly.

At the moment I have about 60 domains, mostly .com, a couple .net, and some 1 word .cc .ws domains.

I have the some domains parked on namedrive, and others on SEDO, and most have a premium listing set up with godaddy.com.

My main question is how do I go about selling some of these quickly? Should I use the offer/counter offer auction on godaddy, which lasts about 3 months, or would I have any luck with an open 7 day domain auction? Should I wait and see what traffic is like before selling, or should I sell right away? How should I price these? Any advice is appreciated. Below is the list of the domains I have, some I think are pretty good. I admit, I don't expect $XXXX for any of them. But I believe I could sell them for a profit. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Should I wait and see what traffic is like before selling, or should I sell right away?

Sorry, quite unlikely the names would get natural or typein traffic, except Brazil2012.com which is probably your best name by far (assuming it's not a trademark).

Thanks for your answer,

As far as natural traffic goes, its not very high. So far usaipad.com, usatablet, amigoodinbed.com and mamicaliente.com are getting the most hits. Like a couple hits a day or something of direct traffic.

As far as selling and parking, would name drive or sedo be better? And is it worth my while to post them on godaddy auctions (7 day open)?

Thanks

As far as parking goes, should I stick with SEDO or NameDrive?

The domains with the keywords that naturally drives traffic will sell faster.
Try listing your domains with Namepros domain market place section.

Hi

you probably should have asked for advice on what NOT to register first.

though "backdoorworld.com" seems like a cool game name

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I definately tried to get some cool keyword names, but as you can imagine, after trying gold everything, green everything, and seo everything, etc. Even names I punched in for giggles like greenpenis.com (hulk fetish??) are taken! I ended up taking some un-amazing names, but some which still might have some value - even if they aren't the greatest, i believe they aren't bad. I even tried making up new words like, greenify, greenovate, etc. But they are also taken. I think I would have been really good at this a few years ago, but never got on. We will see how it goes. I believe that a handfull or even 1 of the names can cover my losses with the others - that's the hope anyways.

Godaddy has given me price suggestions from $100 -$500, and estibot has given me values at $3000+ for smrtphones.com. While I realize that these aren't true appraisals, there might be some truth in this. I guess I might list a couple here and see how it goes. Any thoughts on what might be my most valuable name? I'm thinking smrtphones.com, but not sure.

I was thinking of cold calling some business with an offer to buy names. For instance offering plastic surgeons specializing in butt lifts a chance to buy any or all of the names bumdoctor.com bumdr.com brazilbum.com and brazilbums.com While somewhat comical, and perhaps unbefitting to the profession, these could be valuable redirect names that are more memorable than drgreensteinmiami.com etc.

Thoughts are appreciated.

If you're expecting to find great domains for regfee you are ten years late. Too many beginners make the mistake of picking up whatever crumbs were left down the table.
Focus on quality vs quantity. Instead of buying 50 domains (that will cost $$$ in renewal fees and most likely never sell), buy ONE domain on the drops or the aftermarket. One domain that has unquestionable value and will cost less than $10 to renew if you don't get a nice offer within the first year.

Godaddy has given me price suggestions from $100 -$500, and estibot has given me values at $3000+ for smrtphones.com. While I realize that these aren't true appraisals, there might be some truth in this.
It's all theory. I could manually appraise your domains at $500 each but that means nothing if there is no buyer.
smrtphones.com is a typo, the only value lies in the type-in traffic it would get (probably little).

I was thinking of cold calling some business with an offer to buy names.

I think you would be wasting their time and yours.
You first need to understand what types of domains do sell, and what makes a domain valuable. End users need a compelling reason for buying a domain. Everybody can find regfee domains like you're doing, that are not worse than what's already taken :)

All good points guys. Thank you for your feedback. I will definately be using your advice. For now more regs, aside from the fact that my wife will kill me if I do - I guess I should try and get a sale first, at least see some proof in the pudding. Although I just did a final reg for the time being goldroi.com - meh, we'll see.

So as for smrtphones.com it's a typo, however it's also an intentional typo that people use to write smart. And no, I will not buy gold crap! haha.

So what are my next steps, I still have almost an entire year to sell/do something with these. As for parking them, with the intent of selling them, would it be best that I park these on SEDO?

Sorry, I wish I had good news for you. :( The only one I like is BackdoorWorld.com only because it seems to have a chance if developed.

Again thanks for all the feedback.

I have since registered a few more for different purposes, I hope these are better, at least somewhat.

whygold.ca (was free)
litigator.co
RBOZ.COM
GOLDROI.com (as in Return on Investment)
URU1.com - I plan to develope this one.

any feedback is welcome.

btw. worldcupcoupon.com doesnt have any trademark problems as "world cup" is generic, in that there are several world cups. But the others I agree. USAIPADS is getting the most hits.
