Hi everyone! I've gotten a few opinions on this domain already, but I thought I'd put it to the Namepros panel. The forum seems to be the most informed.

I'm hoping to sell Diseño.com (Design.com in Spanish)

With no promotion it's getting 1000+ visitors a month.

Any appraisals or more importantly, marketing ideas, are welcomed! I'm very anxious to sell this beauty-but how much and to whom?

Matt

I wouldn't sell it just yet, the IDN market has not matured yet:
there still is little browsersupport, there is no guarantee of ownership (deletion without prior notice) and there has be no reall promotion yet of IDN-sites.

Although this name offcourse is excellent, for a réal financial kaboom you probably have to wait until the intro of mi©rosoft Longhorn.

Hi Matt
I'm curious where did you register diseño.com? and when?
and how much are you asking?

Hi Tavo,
The best places I've found to register IDN's are 007Names.net and Idotz.net.007Names may be a bit better because they offer free URL forwarding wheras Idotz charges.I registered it back in April I believe.
Idotz was excellent though because they allowed the registration of single-letter IDN names, and I ended up with about 20 of the approx 140 accented letters. Like ề.com,ạ.com,ỳ.net,ổ.com,etc etc.I'm just waiting for browser technology to catch up with the domains so I can make some more sales!
I am definetly looking to sell Diseño.com.Judging from what some German IDN's sold for,I think I will easily be able to get high $X,XXX or low $XX,XXX.Probably more if I wait considering Spanish is much more widely spoken than German.
It's currently on Sedo, the page has gotten 350-400 views so far this month.
Thanks for renewing this month old thread! :p

Personally I wouldn't count on big sales in IDN market. There is too many problems including custom keyboard settings and common typos. I did some research with european IDNs and most of people type not accented letters using standard english keyboard because it's faster, they use to it etc....

IMO you can expect high $xxx - low$x,xxx from end user.

I've actually sold 2 of my single letter IDN's already for $3000 a piece,so there is a market.I realize there's all kinds of browser issues and such right now,but that's only because they're still really really new.
Despite all these temporary accessibility problems,my better IDN's still get some traffic,so I'm pretty optimistic.
Thanks for the input everyone!

Hi,

I speak spanish and I speak little english, but about this domain I think it haven't worth today because there are not really promoted the site with the "Ñ" letter. I did registered some domains with ñ a few years ago. I think it haven´t $ today but in a couple of years there will be great names. IMHO.

Thanks

Sorry my little english

Juan

they're used to it, yes. But, taking an example from German, how is typing e.g. "woerterbuecher" faster than "wörterbücher" (if you have a German keyboard, of course)??? A domain name is actually the only case where I ever use non-dotted substitutes for öäü in German. Even if most people know that dotted letters can not be used in domain names, typing the word "dictionaries" as "wörterbücher" is so automatic that many people would accidentally type in dotted variant to the address bar of their browser. I've done it myself... This means that generic words in IDN format can indeed be used at least to generate traffic. BTW I'm not German and I must say that German is a simple case with just 3 dotted letters, in many languages there is no satisfying way to substitute accented letters with the limited supply of English keyboard, resulting in very weird domain names.
Long story short: don't let Diseño.com go cheap, Dillpup, it has much more value in just 1-2 years!

Wow! I see people are still divided on IDN's. I've never seen such an array of appraisals :tu:
Everything from Reg Fee to $XX,XXX! It seems those who see the value in it are in Europe or are familiar with typing accented letters, which I suppose is how it should be.I don't expect many American domainers to show interest in it.
I've had a few offers of $1000 and $2000,but I think "diseño" is just a notch or two below "bücher" which went for high $XX,XXX.At this point,I would probably sell for mid-high $XXXX though.
I've already quadrupled+ my reg fee with Sedo revenue,so I suppose I'll hang onto it until a buyer shows up.Hopefully soon! I'm moving this fall and need some cash!
Thanks for all the input!

:bingo: you're right. Those who doubt the future and value of IDN are actually people who do not use these characters in their everyday life anyway.

I think "diseño" is just a notch or two below "bücher" which went for high $XX,XXX.

Don't forget that it was bücher.DE, not .com! I am pretty sure that IDN is the case where .com is not the king , bücher.com would never reach anything near this. Not sure about spanish speaking markets, though
