Java is extremely popular, meaning there will be lots of support needed for the near future. At present, Java is the No. 1 language in terms of the actual number of developers.

According to the current demand PHP is more in. Now a days, most of the websites are developed using PHP but still its not that Java and .Net are outdated. They are also being used.

I am telling it from my personal experience. I know Java and .Net and I just completed my B.Tech. Now, whenever I apply for a job most company's ask me for PHP.

Well, it does not matter which language you learn but just excel in any language that you do.

There is no doubt that PHP is a best language for developing websites. PHP based websites are much more secure. Actually website security depends on your programming skills. You can make secure website if you are very good in programming.

Facebook uses a lot of php. You can notice it on the url while checking your profile. It also uses Python and Perl for other back end developments.

sorry but i have to laugh... saying that php is more secure then .net is like saying "hello i have no work/job experience" and that is the same saying that php is "no doubt that PHP is a best language for developing websites" ...

php is more used because it's free, the servers cost less, etc...
You can do stuff in .Net you can't do with php alone.

I think java is best, to do in Java, you often do not even have a Unit test, because a lot of refactoring tools can be done automatically and ensure semantic correctness of the reconstructed.
