Paid traffic? Does this work?

has anyone here ever used paid traffic?

if so does it work?

and if yes can anyone point me in the right direction to a good place to buy from?

if the answer is no where is a good place for advertising?

recommendations would be respected.

if you know that traffic was generated legitemately (think google, overture, etc) then paid traffic does work. if its from unknown sources, then imo your just paying for people (or bots?) to waste your bandwidth.
