Seeing as there's now a NamePros domain registration system, using NP$, I don't see why a NP$ debit card wouldn't be possible! It would be great if the NP$ debit card worked similar to paypal's debit cards. The debit card would automatically detuct from account with a 0.016 conversion rate, and wouldn't work when you reached 0NP$. And for those people who don't wan't a physical debit card, they can chose to have a virtual debit card for online purchases, like the ones at www.webcertificate.com / www.money-around-the-world.com

Sounds alright but a tad complicated :D I don't know how we would receive the debit cards, what exactly we could use them for, etc. Could you explain a bit more? :D

I think what snareklutz means is that the conversion from NP's to $ be put on a back card type system. So for an example if you had 1000 NP's you could transfer the NP's to $ and have it credited to your Bank Card and then be able to withdraw at ATM's

I agree with all4cost, the only time it would be worth looking into a solution like this is if the NP's exchange was at NP$1 = $1

Then id say.....

BRING IT ON

lol

:)

I am sorry, but I don't think it would work at all. First of all it would be very hard, to near impossible to set up. Plus, the system as it is currently set up is very easy, so I don't think we need to change something thats not broken.

I don't see the point, as people rarely have more than $50's worth of NP$. Besides, which CC company (visa etc) would take that on.

Exactly. Plus a credit card company is not going to take it on, because even if you had all the NP $ in the NP $ economy, that would only equate to $12538.18 at the 0.016 rate, which isn't that much to create a debit card on IMO.

I'd say "good idea" if I'd have around 100,000 np$ or so. As of now, I won't be able to spend more than $5 or so B-) Which is nothing.

This idea - wel not saying its impossible - but It's extremely complicated, and doesn't work in this case. The NP$ value is so low, beside too much crap involved in issuing any kind of debit cards + cost too. Its not worth it beside no bank would do this.

It does sound like a good idea if you want to think that but there are so many aspects that need to be thought about and put together that it is almost impossible to do.

Very interesting idea, and comments. I had never considered a NP$ debit card before. I won't knock the idea because I like out of the box thinking.

The downside like mentioned by Zeeble is that very few members have a substantial NP$ balance that would make it even worth the time to apply for a debit card. I'm sure robertjr, scorpio and Scott would enjoy having one with their current NP$ balances, but most people have less than 1000 NP$ ($17) in their account at any given time.

Different idea, how about a standard credit card that you could earn NP$ or free domain credits by using it? Like the cash-back programs that many cards offer. This is do able.

I like that idea a lot Ron! That would be pretty cool to have a credit card with the NamePros logo on it. ;)

That'd be awesome :) Make it so that teens (13+) can use it, maybe have a $20-$30 yearly fee that you have to pay just to have the card, but maybe for every $200 spent you get 1 domain registration (5% cashback) or hosting for a month? Parents may have to sign an agreement or something... I know I would sign up. Yearly fees will be donated to NamePros maintenance (server rent, etc.) and we could have our usernames printed on the credit cards (Ex, "Bob "vip-ip" Black) << lol

Great idea RJ, I like it.

Ya, I was just thinking about the NP $ cash back feature. 5% seems like a lot, yet for a $100 purchase, that would only be 5 NP $, which is only a couple of cents. I don't know how much you would want to raise it, but than if you did something like 5% of $100, which would be $5, and then converting that to NP $ at the 0.015 rate, that would be 333 NP $, which could quickly ruin the NP $ economy. It is an excellent idea, but it definitely needs to be thought about for awhile before being implemented.

5% is not a lot, many credit card agencies do that. Imagine, RJ gets so much money invested, and he can base new businesses on that money. By the time he gives bac 5% cashback, he'll make twice as much. Just like banks giving you interest.

Well I guess its up to RJ how much money he wants to invest in this, but your idea is good in concept.
