New to name pros!

Hi everyone,

I am new to namepros and domain name investing and would just like to introduce myself. I am eagerly looking to learn about the business and make some friends along the way.

Here are my current holdings of which I paid about $90 total:

I think you should grace delete all of them. I know you paid for like 2 years for each of these but Godaddy will refund you. Don't hand register domains any more until you learn which domains to handregister. Until then read NP and buy Zandibot/DomainShane/DomainSherpa recommended domains at Bargain Bins. Don't spend more than $100 in your first year.

I don't think I will delete them because they have already been posted on the site so now everyone has knowledge they exist. At this point me dropping the domains would create an opportunity for other people to use the domains I have registered and although I would be refunded the potential return over a longer investment horizon would still outweigh the $90 I spent to purchase the domains. I'm not doing this to make fast money, I want to slowly build a portfolio and sell my assets when the market conditions are the most favorable.

Let me ask you something. If you're walking on the road and you find a $100 note. Would you pick it up? Sure yes. Probably 53 guys around you will fight with you claiming that they saw it first or found it first.
That $100 note is like a good domain name. People should fight over it.

Instance 2:

If you're walking on the road and you find $100 note torn up into pieces. Would you pick it up? Probably.
But how many people will fight you to pick those torn up pieces? In my opinion, NONE. Let it be a day from now, a year from now or a decade from now.
Those torn up $100 pieces are domains that will never ever have value.


Your domains are "Instance 2". You can post it at billion places, nobody is going to come and claim it. Listen to me. A year from now you'll thank me. You have few hours left to grace delete them. Instead spend those $90 for one good domain name and try to sell that.

You make a good point. However estibot, sedo, and the fact that I have an exact match .net domain name without any copyright/trademark violations gives me enough information to believe that I can at the very least hold onto these domains for a couple of years or more to see if their market value has changed.I really appreciate your advice though, I have an entirely different perspective now. I may even delete one of them.

This doesnt matter, you need to read through this forum for a few months before regging anymore names, you need to learn what sells and what makes a name valuable. Its something we all had to do when starting out

I understand, but I honestly think that what I currently have is worth keeping. I'm gonna stick with my domains not just because I think they are valuable but also because I don't have a short investment horizon. I am not trying to sell them this year. Although I am still learning the dynamics of the market, I am treating my assets like I would any other investment. It's better that I lose money and fully understand why to apply that knowledge in the future than speculate and make money without really understanding what I am doing. Thanks for the links!

Just try and think what company would buy them from you and what commercial use they have

Try and avoid .net, they are very hard to sell

Yeungming.com---->very common Chinese name. As stated earlier by Kassey Lee. I will bide my time with this.

Garudagroup.net----> exact match domain name, 2 large international companies have this name 1 in India and the other in Cambodia. The name is not trademarked. At some point the .net and .com versions of this name will need to be purchased by one of these companies for protection, it would also need to be bought whenever they decide to trademark because the domain name existed prior to the trademark application.

Whichsnitch.com----> very catchy two syllable domain name. Snitch is a programming term, it is also political jargon for an informant. I can see the end user for this being any publishing company looking to start their own website that releases sensationalist news leaks.

Acxii.com---> I see value in this down the road when 5L's become more scarce. I'll probably hold on to this for 5 years.

Co22.net - I'm also holding on to this for a few years. When all the 4L.coms get sold out, I expect this asset class to become more valuable. There isn't really an end user for this but I think in 5 years it could be worth something.
