New Member Saying Hello

Hi. I was browsing on Google for forums to discuss web design, programming, etc. I've been designing web sites from the time the internet opened to the public. I remember the days of Windows NotePad and Netscape 1.0.

Currently I'm self-employed as a web site designer/graphics artist. I am working with a client long term at the moment writing pages, designing sites, doing graphics, pretty much whatever they need. I also maintain my own site I just started. I'm hoping that I can get it going but the only time I have is on weekends.

I'm also trying to get better at php, MySQL and Perl (I love perl!) I use both Windows 98SE and MandrakeLinux 10.1 on one machine.

When I'm not working I'm uh... working. :lol: Seriously, on weekends I'm either backing up and cleaning files or I'm working on my own site or learning more stuff I can use in web pages.

In the summer I like going for walks, working on restoring my car, hanging out with friends and neighbors, sitting outside and reading a good book. In the winter, I sit in front of the computer too much.

Well, that's about it for me. I hope to get to know people here and maybe make a few new friends, learn some things and if I can help out I'll try that too.

Welcome, Tika. It's nice to get to know you. What kind of car are you restoring?

I'm restoring a 1987 Pontiac 6000. It's a great, sturdy car and runs like a top. This past summer I did a lot of work on it already and had lots of mechanical work done to it, including some welding on the frame in the back. It's nearly a classic.

A picture of my car can be found at my site (in my sig line) until January 2nd, 2005 (it's on a holiday greeting I whipped up quickly). When I took the actual picture, it wasn't snowing and there wasn't any snow on the ground. I just got 'creative' in Paint Shop Pro 8, is all.

I'm actually in the Western NY area. And it's snowed a little. It's the windchills (typical for January/February and not December) that are bad right now. It's -1°F right now with a wind chill of -17°F. There's a Wind Chill Advisory out now and they advise people stay indoors as the wind chills are dangerous (according to the weather service). I was out cleaning off my car this afternoon and took it for a drive. Kinda freezes everything, fingers, toes, even one's breath!

I'll just stay inside until it warms up (later in the week supposedly, near 45). We have a saying around here. 'If you don't like the weather, wait a minute.'
