Didn't see this one coming.... quote from godaddy

Fee charged by ICANN

This mandatory fee is charged by ICANN (Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers: www.icann.org). and becomes effective on November 1, 2004. It is 25 cents per domain name registration year. Thus, the fee on a one year .com registration would be 25 cents. The fee would be 50 cents for a two year registration (i.e. 25 cents times 2). Additional years would be at 25 cents per year.

ICANN fees apply to .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .name.

At first I thought GoDaddy lowered the prices of their domain services. :(

None yet. Although this is what the cellular phone industry does to make monthly rates look lower is by separating so called fees and taxes.

Probably also a round about way of placing blame to ICANN with every single domain sold.

I think it's just unethical marketing to make Godaddy look cheaper when they're not.

The problem with directi is breaking down "basics" like forwarding and dns to extra fees and now Godaddy's going to break down something absolutely part of the domain.

At least in directi's case it was something OPTIONAL.

Since ICANN does not directly bill the fee to the end user and has no authority to tax, it is illigitemate to add this as a "fee".

They might as well just break down all their costs so we can see exactly how much they make off each domain.

OK - GoDaddy's $2.99 Domains!
Added at checkout:
25ยข ICANN fee.
74ยข Card Processor Fee. (can't do due to Visa/MC agreements)
$6.00 Netsol registry fee

I think ICANN should SQUASH this practice like the CC companies do and prohibit the itemization of the fee.
