If you're thinking of getting a computer themed name, is it better to get it with an .net and/or .com extension?

Have a couple great name ideas, but trying to figure if the .net is better suited for the name (since it is computer related).

Have any suggestions?

My opinion, i think you should be both. Also get .org and .info to. Were other people cant take that name.

Register both.
ALWAYS get the .com if available.
Don't wait for someone else to register your own name.
For importants brands I also register .org .info .biz
Defensive registrations costs much less than lawyers/UDRP later

Well i would say that both are equally good, but as you said the site is related to computers i would suggest you to go for .net

.com obivous, first priority!!

.net's probably 80% as good, but get others too. Get .info, .biz, .org, etc!

Good Luck

Thanks guys for the heads up.

One more question: does buying up the entire extension listing make it more valuable, or is it just for defensive purposes? That's a lot of clams for a possible little return when .com is the most valuable.

I can't believe that some names haven't been taken up yet, ones that have dual and triple use (business, personal and even the Adult industry). =:x

Register both don't cost you much if you are planning to build up own brand.

Think I'll get both the .com and .net, and go register them at Sedo.

Damn you Godaddy for having a sale when I finally have some money!! :'(

I think it is more for defensive purposes. Actually it would be very good if there would be site already with .net or some other extension while you are making one on .com, but if you are trying to build your own brand then it mightn not be so good.
