I have been doing the whole domain thing for about a year now and I havent made a sale. Im having trouble understanding the method. Im confused on how a domain like painter541()com has more traffic than one of mine like acnechocolate()com, which has ZERO traffic and no sale.

Is there something im missing? I have a few good domains and no sales yet!

What are some of the good names you have because the one you mentioned doesn't seem all that great. You've never sold a name not even @ reg fee?

Well i think acnechocolate()com is better than quini4()mobi which ive seen sold for $125! Nope ive never sold anything even at reg fee. Ive also got:

SolarHalogen()com
Cashforsucess()com
F4R()mobi

and some others that I admit are dum lol

Success is spelled with 2 Cs. Check the link in my signature: Tips For Newbies

I wouldn't renew the ones you mentioned above.

I have been in domaining since 2007. During first 1.5 years I made no sale. I will be happy to share my experience with you.

Do's:

1. Read Domain News Blogs.
2. Target on .coms or very premium other TLD domains.
3. Develop your domain which is not selling and sell the whole website.
4. Research more and more by looking at auctions (NOTE: Don't bid on high until you are familiar with auctions)
5. Try to sell your domain to end user which can make 10x and even more than that sales too.

Dont's:

1. Never be rude with clients.
2. Be patient and look at the market seriously.
3. Don't register bad domains until you search keyword traffic.

All the Best.

Thank you!

I have a question, how do you know if something is trademarked? For instance, if someone has pizzaworld.com and pizzaworld.net is available, can I grab it and then try to sell it to them?

Thank you for the site! If something is considered "DEAD" that means I can grab that name right?

Dead means there is no longer a trademark.

Best advice - that nobody follows - is to keep your wallet in your pocket while you study the market thoroughly. The more you know the better your choices. It takes years of study to do well in this game.

Unless you have specialized knowledge of a particular market or are very lucky, reg fee domains take about 5 years to "ripen". The reason is that many alternatives exist when you first buy your name. In your example there could be pizzaworld, pizzaglobe, pizzacountry, pizzatown, pizzavillage ---- bunches of similar value names available. No-one will buy yours with the alternatives out there for reg fee.

In something like 5 years the domain market will (hopefully) expand to where all good alternatives are taken and then buyers will be willing to pay a premium for your name.

And forget the small change. A business will pay $1000 for the right name and has no use for the wrong one. If you find a winner be sure to get full value. Patience, with awareness of renewal costs, is a domainer's best friend.

Well pizzaworld.com was just an example. And I understand it can take years to know this field. I believe I have an idea though.
