I'm going to start a fan website on a band called A Wilhelm Scream real soon and i have the max of the max that a fan site can get on the site, but i have no ideas for what to have on the forums. I'm trying to add forum categories but i can't come up with ideas for categories/forums to have because they are either used on the site or they are to far of topic. Anyone who can sugest some categories and forums i can put up on a fan forum on a independt Hardcore/Punk band? These are the categories and forums i have so far:

Code:
[b]-> A Wilhelm Scream[/b]
   [b]Forum[/b]
   News
(Find the latest news about A Wilhelm Scream
[b]Members can not start topics, only reply![/b])
   Biography
   (Ask questions about the band)
   Rumours
(Heard a rumour related with the band? Share it with the rest of us!)
   Lyrics
(Chat and ask questions about the bands songs and lyrics)
   Downloads
(Do you have any downloads related to the band you want to share? Post them here!)
   General
(The place to post everything that dose not fit into any other forum)

And that's it .. i need atleast 2 more categories and alot more forums to make it even interesting! Any sugestions are very much appriciated! :) (including forums i can add to existing categorie(s). :)

Thanks on advance! :tu:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

In the beginning it hink that is plenty, if you have too many forums when first getting going it will look VERY bare, and may discourage people from even posting. If i were you i'd let it run a few months then start adding more if needed.

It would be nice with some forum for songwriting, chat, your band, and etc. wouldn't it?

I agree, I experianced this with a forum I started o few years ago. Just becouse the ability is there it is allot of blank space at first. I had no members signing up for the first year. I reduced my forums to what I felt was more inportant and then added new areas as the site grew and members requested new forums for what they wanted.

I also agree. Let your members fill up the General forum with topics and then think about breaking them off into their own forums. You can always move threads to the new forums at a later time.

One of the most common miscalculations I see with people starting new forums is adding far too many different topic areas for the number of members they have. It just makes your boards look empty, which is unappealing to new members.

Take NamePros for example. We have something like 35 different forums on here now, yet we started with just 6. New ones were added as needed.

RJ, how about an article for webmasters wanting to start and grow a message board?
