In over my head & really need help please. Easier to dream up sites than to build them so now I have many names expiring. I am wondering if these are worth a second year reg to try to recoop costs or worth holding for investment or a lucky sale to an enduser. These are my faves but I have 600+ I really haven't tried to sell them. Now just listed on Afternic. Any insight or ideas or values would be helpful. Stressed out! Lost job! Been depressed but trying to exercise, eat right, be positive and deal with this. Hate to let them go. Please I need advice what to do.

Honestly, I don't see anything outstanding on that list. Renewal fees on 600+ domains is a lot of money, especially if you're out of a job. You have to prioritize.

If you can come up with a concrete, do-able business plan for a few names, keep those and get working on it ... today! Otherwise, drop 'em. Recheck when your financial situation improves - they may still be available.

Personally I'd drop all those. Didn't see any that jumped out at me as I scanned down, except puzzlesDaily is an okay short brandable. Long names like these, without strong brandability factor and without substantial exact keyphrase searches, are a real, real, REAL hard sell.

If you LOVE any of these and want to develop that one or those ones, then keep them for that reason. Any you're holding on to in hopes of an end user coming along... I don't see any that I 'believe in', that way. Of course you never know... but then, registrars are getting rich from domainers who reg names en masse because they think there's a chance someone will magically love the name and pay big.

IMO, none of these are worth keeping in hopes of an end user. Sorry about that. There are people who post in the 'domains wanted' area of this and other forums, who will buy expiring names for a buck or two each, you might hunt up some of them... they usually want the name to have at least a couple weeks until expiry though...

Good luck, with this and all the rest :)

I'd renew CASURFSHOP & CASURFING, and dump the rest. If these are your best, then dump the rest too.

Thank you for the response. It is sadness. I like running, hiking, surfing, photography and I live at the beach so I will take a hard long look at what I have and what I know and get busy!

Agree with Stub. These names are not very strong and not likely to sell.
Cut losses and focus on quality vs quantity. 600 domains like these are going to burn a hole in your pocket.

I would forget about them all. I had a closer look on all domains and I used two different methods to scan them. There is not a single domain worth keeping.

I would stay away from misspellings. If these domains had the correct spelling their value would be questionable. With the incorrect spelling they are worthless and even annoying. I wouldn't want to own these domains if you paid me money.

You don't need to waste your time trying to sell them. You can't.

You have here 81 domains. 79 of them are dot com. I checked how many of these dot coms have their dot net version taken. None of them have. All their dot net versions are available. This shows that you hand registered those domains yourself, which is what I expected just from looking at the names.

You can not succeed in domaining by hand registering names that you came up with. It's impossible.

You have spend at least $4500 USD in 600 domains. You have wasted that money. You could have bought three CVCV.com domains with that money and you would be a much happier domainer now.

Statistically speaking a dot net is worth 10% of a dot com. Considering that you can register a dot net for $8, it means if a dot net is not taken but it's dot com is taken then statistically that dot com is less than $80 USD worth.

I suggest that you quit domaining and do something else that you like doing.

As I understand you register these with some development plans but there are just too many and most of them cover the same niche. Just choose 2-3 best ones that have most relevant keywords and let rest of them drop.

these where my thought earlyer when you had them up in the appraisal seciton:

i dont think i see anything that would be a disaster if it was dropped. I kinda like CASURFING.COM. CASURFSHOP.COM AREYOUADREAMER.COM

ILUVCA ILUVSANFRANCISCO.COM ILUVNEWYORKCITY.COM you might want to research some more.

Thank you for thoughts. I was thinking that the ILuv+cityname.com might work for tour operators or as travelsites. Unique info about the city like restaurants focusing on organic local produce, wineries close to town, Not to be missed microbreweries, best sunset spots, ect.

Thank you for your time to post indepth info it is appreciated. SnoParks is spelled correctly. They are winter recreation areas that you have to buy permits to park at. Yes I agree I could have done so much more with the $. Makes me ill but truth be told Im a dreamer not a domainer. Wanted to run some sites about stuff Im passionate about just couldn't put it all together Dreamweaver is harder than one thinks and the seo, colors, type, images, copywriting, copyright issues plus busy with family and job until recently! So Im bummed but learned a expensive lesson don't try to do business in a business you know nothing about.

Agree with the posters above. Things like BeachCitiesofCalifornia and CrosswordPuzzleDaily could easily be made into minisites, if you were so inclined. But the names are still a little awkward, and the traffic wouldn't be significant.

The surf shop ones are decent because they're actually tied to a specific type of product. Some of these are way too general and vague - how would you go about developing "FindBookList?" Most people would go straight to Amazon (or a local store) for that sort of thing.

It can be painful to have to drop names, but everybody does it. It's part of the learning curve, and you'll be glad to be relieved of the financial burden of renewing these names. I sifted through my portfolio last weekend, picking out the names I'm going to "throw back" (in fishing terms). It's easy to get carried away domaining, but you have to think about your financial situation first. Those renewal fees could be keeping you from starting an emergency fund, doing repairs on your car, who knows...

Imagine how much you'd want to kick yourself if you had to look back and realize you spent nearly $8k+ on TWO years of renewals for your 600 names. You can prevent this now. Good luck!

Don't beat yourself up. We all make mistakes, you will learn and recover from this one.

If there is one site out of all of them that you would REALLY like to develop, you will find plenty of good advice on this site.

There are easier ways to build a site than Dreamweaver - Wordpress for example.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

in my opinion, I don't think these names is worth to second reg .

more, you must know the names value before reg it .

List Them

If you really want help, list the 600 domains. We'll tell you what you should do.

You might be better off cutting the chord that is holding you to your domains. Sometimes it is is better to just put the beast of burden behind you and start over in a different direction.

Prioritize ... keep those you really, really like along with those you plan to develop soon, plus those you believe have resale value in the near future; keep those that have received credible, decent offers in the past, especially if from end-users.

As for the rest, don't just drop them, liquidate them while they still have some time left...

Based on the sampling of domains you posted, in the current domain market, you could likely still get several hundred dollars to upwards of a thousand dollars through liquidation - it's not big bucks, but when unemployed, every little bit helps.

Set a goal ... ie. for me, if I had 600 domains, of the type you appear to have, I'd shoot for a goal of keeping no more than 75 to 100 and liquidating all the rest. Don't dump it all - keep some, but key is be selective, and it may involve some tough choices along the way.

I personally once had a portfolio of nearly 1500 domains, but then a couple years ago, rapidly reduced it down to under 250, and now am down to 140 and expect to drop it down to around 120 by middle of next year...

Holding a bunch of mediocre domains often costs more than it's worth with renewal prices ever increasing - best to focus on high quality, if one has them / can afford them, and as for the mediocre domains one chooses to keep, either develop them in the near future or cut one's losses and drop them.

I saw you post a line saying you live in the beach and I kind of assume that it's in california, right? So based on that, if there's that drive to save a couple of domains, I say you concentrate more on what you could develop possibly those that concern the beach domains and maybe you can do some offline marketing there to promote your websites/domains even better.

'i luv city'.com domains might have some tourism potential but yeah, it's gonna be a development issue as 'love' isn't normally spelled like that except in chat speak.

maybe even stock up on pro photographs with stockbeachphotos.com if you're up for it.

once you've done your development, then hopefully you could sell em and recover what you've lost because i don't think selling these domains without any development could really profit well.

just my thoughts :) hope that helps and good luck :D

Don't keep any of those domains. You will just lose more money. You are not going to develop any websites. Move on to other things in life. You don't have a single domain that has resell value.

If you decide to build a website in the future you can register a new domain. Any name that you can come up with in 5 seconds will be as good as any domain that you posted above.

Keeping a useless domain and trying to recover lost money will not help you. Spending more money is not a solution. It is time to be realistic.
