Names For Charity

Mystic had a thread entitled "Charity Account" which got me thinking.

How about this:

People donate names to a thread with the price of each name being 100 NP$.

Buyers visit the thread which has a list of the names and the seller.

Once a name is sold, the NP$ go to NamePros for charities and the seller is contacted for the push info.

Thread could be stickied and called "Names For Charity" (or maybe a new forum is started).

What do you think?

How would you determine when a domain would be sold? I think we would have to agree upon some auction rules, but its a great idea.

Not an auction.

Every name listed would have a fixed NP$ price. I suggested 100 NP$. Obviously these wouldn't be topline names but some that may catch bargain hunters' eyes.

When a name sold maybe a PM from Admin/moderator would be sent to the seller.

Oh, I misread the thread...(need to get some sleep)...I thought you proposed giving 100 NP $ to the donator, and then auctioning off the domain for a profit. Your idea is much better though.

Why does it have to be 100NP$? Why not, that the submitter can set prices for themselves, as that means more NP$ can be earned :]

Doesn't have to be 100 NP$. I just threw that price out there. The idea is to move the names though, not have them sit there with a price tag too high.

Afterall, the seller is donating the names, not getting any financial reward for doing so. If the names were at 100 NP$ (or some similar low figure) they would be more likely to sell which translates into more charity $ IMO.
