Name.com security?

I have been with name.com for a few domains for a couple of years now, in the beginning I mainly paid attention to the prices and features and there Name.com scores quite well: free private WHOIS, free Google Apps, very cheap gTLD´s (pity that they are on the expensive side for some ccTLD´s such as .nl, .co.uk, .cn ...)

However lately I started paying more attention to security. I notice when you go to the homepage of name.com, that everything seems in http:// whereas we all know this is less safe that https:// :O

Is there any alternative way to sign in in a more secure way? I would say for an ICANN approved and very established registrar it´d be quite a flaw if they wouldn´t have any form of encryption. After all, you want your domains to be in a protected environment (either because of their monetary value or emotional value)

Actually, once you login to Name.com every page is HTTPS and completely encrypted. When you click on the login button to sign in your username and password are submitted over HTTPS as well (as it should be). Also, if you just type in https://www.name.com you can access the homepage securely from the start. It looks like all the major registrars default to HTTP not HTTPS on their homepages as well.

With regard to security, Name.com is the only registrar to offer NameSafe (NameSafe VIP Service - Name.com) which adds a random six digit password to your login, so the only way someone could login to your account is if they have the physical token. VeriSign just released their VIP token service on the iPhone and Blackberry (https://vipmobile.verisign.com/home.v) which Name.com supports, and is a nice convenience.

Were you having a problem on a specific page or just weren't aware you could browse to https://www.name.com?

Thanks for the input. If the login is encrypted with https and the entire session while logged in as well, then Name.com even rises in my own list of prefered registrars. Good service, decent support, low pricing.
