Hey,

Right, ive been thinking about making one of these for practise. BUT, im unsure how to go about it.

Is it best when a user signs up, to create a new page dedicated to them, that calls only their variables from mysql, so that they can have a www.mydomain.com/theirpage?

OR

Is it best to just have one profile page, and dynamically load a page with subsequent variables from the mysql db depeding on the variable passed?

I hope that made sense, and I hope someone can help :D

thanks

Todd

eh i dont understand ur second idea, but i wud suggest the URL variable. itll be easier cuz u can make it so that their username (or w/e) is their folder with everything and then all the filenames have that as part of them.

what do u mean by the second one?

sorry, i didnt really explain it very well

I meant, just have one page, called, say, profile.php. And depending on what link a person has pressed to get there, depends on what content is on it. So say a person clicks a link sayong "matts profile", matts info would then be loaded from a mysql database, and shown on profile.php. They then click "shauns Profile", and the profile.php is reloaded with shauns info taken from the database.

is that better?

Having a folder for each person would take to much resources. I would say go for the profile.php?userid=1 then have that yank the mysql variables. You could even set up automatic page redirection so each person could have www.site.com/therename then it would just redirect to profile.php?userid=wateva.

Just my 2 cents ;)
