Anyone want to put in their 2 cents as to what are some of the most valuable undeveloped domains in the world?

Undeveloped for this thread means either zero development or a site that isn't being used to it's full potential

My top 5 are

1. ForSale.com this isn't really doing much today but it could be the site to take on eBay with some backing one day. What couldn't you sell at ForSale.com? Estimate of value undeveloped and as is 15M

2. Air.com what major airline wouldn't want to own this gem? Or even Nike. Estimated value as is 10M

3. News.com how cnet ended up with this gem is beyond my understanding. What MAJOR network wouldn't give 10M for this?

4. TV.com another gem owned by CNET not doing much. What network wouldn't want to own TV.com? 10M estimated value

5. Casino.com what major 'CASINO' wouldn't want this gem. 10M estimated value

That's my personal BIG FIVE

The top domain names in the world that aren't being used to anywhere near their true potential

All five would set new records for sales if they were put up for grabs IMHO

What's your top pics?

PS Sent me some NP if you like the thread. I want to get an avatar. hehe

I dont know if you were around for the furore surrounding www.culinary.com .

It went for a very tidy sum, $100,000 - odd at Pool.

There was a lot of talk about how the price could have got that high up . There was talk of insider shill bidding.

I recall a lot of domainers being keen to see how the site would developed for them to recoup some revenue on it.

Well, looking at the site now.. It is woefully under-developed.

Its certainly a risky investment on a name only basis but who knows... In 10 years time any good one word .com might be the price of a large apartment in Manhatten.. Who knows.....

Reminds me of the wealthy individuals and Corporations that spend millions on paintings which they store in bank vaults. Maybe as the years go by all the best domain names will be bought for such investment purposes and never developed. I guess using WLS, companies with a few billion spare cash to invest could pick up every domain on every extension for years to come. Maybe its time to stop selling the better names we own, as we might someday have no opportunity to get anything better than 20 character long domains in extensions no one has heard of.

casino.com was sold by a Swedish company in october 2003 for around $5.5 million. they had bought it 4 years earlier for about $6500.

quite amazing profit, but it would probably had been possible to get even more. :)

wow, that's amazing.
Can you give me a news link of this story if possible? I'd like to read about the early $6500 sale for casino.com.

Thanks

I only got the news in Swedish so I'm not sure if that's what you want :)

They got it for 50 000 SEK (~$6500 in todays exchange rate - dont know the exact amount in USD at the time they bought it), maybe you could use that term to search for in google and also hit some English ones.
