As I stated in one of my threads, "My opinion is that the traditional mobile targets will do best. News, Sports, music, games & pics."

I don't believe that names like creditconsolidation, carpeting, onlineeducation,
strollers, wholelife or even surgeon will amount to much if anything.

I do think these may do well enough for high $xxx amounts when the market levels off:

alumni: Many schools and alumni groups. These types are rah rah.
dogtrack: betting or locating;
rabb: Spiritual advice niche;
babyregistry: Very convienent for a place like Target or WalMart to grow their market share;
pupil: Education resources on the go; and
schoolgirl: Porn niche market.

Music, ringtones, news and sports is what i believe will sell. All those $xxxx sales on Pool are speculators who may just come to realize that buying mortgage.mobi was a mistake.

I believe that people will want to look up mortgage rates on their mobile phone, but what person is going to apply for a mortgage on a mobile device? Much of the revenue for sites like mortgage.whatever is generated from advertizing and refferals. Unless some clever person finds a way to monetize mortgage rate requests, (i.e. we will send you more info at your email address or call us at....) I don't see this as a particularly spectacular investment.

Now gimme some news or music on the go and I am king of my domain, or at least king of my bus commute.

My rationale is that this is my second time through this process.

When I got involved in COM domain names in 1995, I was told specifically that the internet is an academic community and that the applications had limits.

The application to communication devices that are ever improving with the fast turning rate of technology is limitless.

The moment people start using MOBI to find news, ringtones, music and sports will be just a hair before they start using it for a ton of other applications.

So, yes... a blink of time.

On the other hand, MOBI might not ever be adopted - and then $0.

Alumni if you can get integration with some campus or colleges and wager for sports betting via mobile as William Hill and others provide already.

Personally, I don't think that you have captured the essence of the mobile with the domains above, as they are almost to the point of being nondescript in their ability to be used for mobile. Just my 2c and no offence meant.

You should check out www.3g.co.uk for more ideas and the applications being put forward for the mobile devices.

Ok people, i think if you have the money, why not buy up good names? I think many of these have great potential. We will have to wait and see about value. JP here has had some names so hood we could only dream. All because he invested initially when names were available. Now he intends to do the same thing again.

In my opinion these have the most potential. Isnt mobi supposed to be used for mobile devices? I think these all have relavance to the ext. Phd.mobi may not be exactly perfect for ext, but it is good for obvious reasons. I also believe it will become a major fad to have your name.mobi. So im sure there is value there. I think for sure no mobi names are worth thousands yet. Even if some sales have been large, they are mostly speculators. There is no practical application for these names yet. I think the names with relavance will be valuable once .mobi sites are prevelant and used by mobile consumers.

With regards to the spanish names (they all look nice) I would say COMPRA.MOBI is a true gem.
