I would probably not opt out of Google’s AI Search for a developed website. AI Overviews and AI Mode can provide another way for people to discover a website, and Google says that websites that opt out will not receive traffic or impressions from its generative AI Search features.
For an established website, I would prefer to keep the site eligible and focus on creating useful, original content that can be valuable in both traditional search and AI-powered search. Google is also providing website owners with more control and Search Console insights about how their pages appear in AI Search.
However, the decision can depend on the website's goals. If a publisher has a specific reason for not wanting its content used in AI Search features, the new control gives them that option. For a business website focused on gaining visibility and reaching new users, I would personally keep it enabled.
