Hello again Namepros,
It isn't a surprise per say - but an opportunity on a future trend.
I bought this domain a couple of weeks ago when I first heard about a new regulation coming into place that I "KNOW" affects every Canadian Real Estate transaction. I have a family member who is a renowned real estate agent and it is because of them I received early notice of this. In colloquial terms, the new regulation requires a mandatary agreement to be signed before any transaction takes place, keeping in mind no one gets paid until this agreement is signed. The agreement requires a real estate agent to physically identify the client, using driver's lisence etc. and "physically" being there means: no more photocopies, no emails and no faxing over the identification.
The Challenge: What this means is that the real estate agent will need to actually meet face-to-face with clients both Buying and Selling. This creates a huge logistical problem because most clients don't live where they want to purchase, and a real estate agent cannot be expected to travel the world signing Mandatary agreements. If one of the identities of a client turns out to be false, or there is an issue - the agent is held legally responsible and subject to thousands in fines.
The Solution: Agents will need to have a registered "Mandatary" complete the agreement with the client.
The regulation is now coming into play, though some provinces will not be affected until a later date in the year.
I'm looking for an appraisal on Mandataries.com,
Results in Google for "Mandatary" have grown from 80,000 to 100,000+ in only 3 weeks.
Listed 2nd in Google for "Mandataries" (after a dictionary site) - I put the site up very quickly just so it would self-optimize.
You can use this format for appraisal - from the NP Guide:

Cheers,
Kris
