Login Box Integration?

I'm redeveloping a site for a client. They have already installed a PHP mail software on a subdomain.

They want to add a login box on their front page (which is on a whole other domain name).

How do I go about integrating this login box?

Thanks! :)

just change the action tag of the form to the login script of the mail system.

Assuming SiteA.ca is the mail system, and its authentication script is login.php, and SiteB.ca is the other domain. On SiteB.ca's login form you would put the following:

Code:
<form action="http://www.SiteA.ca/login.php" method="post">
  ...
</form>

It would then make a post request to the mail system and log them in, this will only work if siteA.ca does not use basically any security measures like Captcha, hashing etc..

I'm not entirely sure of your scenario or what you mean by "PHP mail software" and baxter may be dead on...

But if Site A resides on the same server as Site B, you could write a login script to query the same database. Are you trying to query the same database?

Or are you trying to reach a database on an entirely different server? If so, you can write two php scripts: one on Site A(sender) and one on Site B(receiver). Site A can talk to Site B via PHP & CURL.

Another option is to send requests via Ajax to Site B.

But again, I am not entirely sure of your scenario...

Thanks for helping out baxter and tiawood. Both sites are on the same server, but different domain names.

Sorry I should have been clearer about the 'PHP mail software' - they're using a webmail php-based software.

Thanks for giving detailed description of adding PHP mail box. It is pretty helpful for me.

dezinerite, all you need are the input names from the current login page, then rewrite a form with those same names, and setting the 'action=' tag to the current login URL.

If the current login does use some kind of image verification, it may still be possible to utilize that.

If that doesn't make any sense, can you post a link to the page where they currently log in to their mail? Or PM it to me if you wish. With that i can grab the input names from it, and create a new html form for you.

Let me know if you haven't fixed this already.
