Lists of dropped names...

Anyone paying for lists of soon to drop names? I use JustDropped's search feature quite a bit, but wondering if most of what I'm looking for isn't already being picked up by recipients of the list. btw, this is in no way a veiled endorsement. Trying to figure out the best way to pick up recent drops; any list users out there?

...actually my question was whether or not people are using the lists and if they feel like they're worth it.

to restate: is getting the soon-to-be-dropped lists (the ones that cost money) a profitable undertaking for people on this site?

Thanks for your link mrjohn.

I spend $100,s of dollars a month on lists and find them worth it...depends on what your main business aim is I guess.

What kind of list are you looking for? "the ones that cost money" isn't a description. Try to describe the list by the search criteria that you are using.

If I understand you correctly, your question is whether or not it is worth checking lists of domains that dropped in the last 7, 15 or 30 days. That's what you are asking, isn't it? No, it is not a good idea checking those lists.

Let me explain with an example:

A godaddy domain expires and,

1. it goes to auction as a godaddy exclusive domain. If nobody buys it,
2. it goes to a buy now stage called godaddy closeouts. Each day godaddy drops the price by $1. The final day it drops to $5 plus regular reg fee (around $14.7 USD in total). If nobody buys it,
3. it goes to pending delete stage where anybody can backorder it from snapnames etc. if nobody buys it,
4. it drops. Now you can have your list. Do you really want that list, or do you really want to pay for that list? I don't think so.

If you are looking for cheap domains, you are better off with godaddy closeouts. You can check them here if you want:
https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpHome.aspx?t=5

Or here where I scan them against dictionary words in a few languages:
