Licensing Scripts

Hey guys,

I'm looking into creating a PHP license manager etc, have got some basic algorithms pinned down but was wondering what kinda features people would like to see from a license manager. Some so far are:

• Lock license to domain
• Set license expiry date (for trials etc)
• Set updates expiry date

Ahh yea good idea, I was thinking of intergrating it with a cart definately. I was thinking of a system where the client downloads a "default" trial license initially. And then the seller could either manually upgrade their license or they could buy it through the cart on the server end.
Out of interest do you think if it were to lock the script to a site it would be better to lock it to an IP or domain name?

I'd say definately domain name, you'd get problems when people add ssl, hosts change shared ips etc etc, not worth it!

It'd be cool if the licence numbr was not changed if a customer decided to upgrade...so they wouldn't have to make any changed in the cart. Just the valid til date in the db would change. Most licensing scripts seem to generate new licences every time you upgrade...or did when I last went shopping for one!
