It was not hard to get the info; it is public information in the WHOIS. If people know about your domain, then unless you have it listed as private, the info will be there.

My rule is - do not put your real address and phone number in there. Email address is Ok. I just got a deal for $6500 from someone who found my contact info on WHOIS.

While it is wrong to put false info on the whois, it might be okay to leave out a detail i guess.

In some of my domains, i havent mentioned my street and house numbers. Rest of the details are accurate and a person wud have no problem contacting. I dont think leaving out your flat no. wud harm all that much; it might too not sure.

Illegal no, but in case someone pursues it the domain could be possibly taken away.
