Hello,

Is there decentralized domain registrar for dotcom domains? Can you recommend any reliable Chinese or Honk Kong registrar with English staff?

Or dotcom domain names are not really assets and its not possible to protect them?

Thank you.

Considering all the gTLD are under ICANN, it is basically impossible to be "decentralized".

Though in fairness many things advertised as "decentralized" like some Web3 projects are not either. They often have some central authority as well despite the marketing.

I suggested ICANN should have a registrar of last resort, basically an unaffiliated registrar that can just house domains, if needed.

.com is operated by Verisign. So it doesn't mind if the registrar is from China or Hong Kong, ultimately .com is managed and operated by Verisign and under the ruless of ICANN.
Decentralized stuff would be like a wild west and I don't see it working for domain names. Same like as P2P stuff.
