I recently purchased a third level domain name and looking to develop into a blog of sorts, updating an a specific celebrity. Since the domain is on a third level of an already existing site, (ex: www.celebname.us.com) would this be illegal venture to pursue?

I didn't know a person can be declared illegal. :D

Kidding aside, since you're developing it into a blog, ideally you should be fine.
Just don't put any hint of commercial use whatsoever, not even a link to a
site with "money" written all over it.

Yes, she is illegal and should be locked up right away. She is a menace to our wholesome society and children should have their eyes shielded when her image is shown....:)

I did plan on doing some adsense and affilite links and the such. But I wouldn't think it's illegal. Subdomains are, in actuality, pages within the main URL. So...if I had a guitar site, and wanted to have a subdomain about Led Zeppelin (something like www.ledzeppelin.guitarsite.com), are you saying I couldn't generate any income off of that subdomain?

The problem is you'll be perceived to be making money off a person's name. I
don't know if current domain-trademark dispute resolution practices apply to
subdomains, but the basis of the dispute is the same.

I'm just trying to get a better grasp on this. The celeb is Paris Hilton. So, basically, everyone (or anyone selling products/services/ads) on this search could be tagged: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=inurl:www.parishilton.

BE careful Paris Hilton is a registered trademark ....lol who knows what that witch will do ...hahaha

Basically, if the celeb wants the domain, they will get it.

Not necessarily. The trick is proving you're: 1) not making money off it, and 2)
not "telling" people your site is the celebrity's official site.
