I've registered iPhones.info prior to Apple's announcement of the iPhone so it was a pleasant surprise.

Not sure what to do with this name or how much it's worth. The iPhone has certainly created quite a buzz.

So how much do you think it's worth? Will it's value increase or decrease say one-two years from now?

Thanks.

Good question, as I am sure you are aware Apple has some TM problems with Iphone and and of course so does your name.

I think the value of your name would depend on its revenue and someones willingess to purchase a name with TM issues.

IMHO you better develop a minisite and gives people information about IP hones, when did you invent an IP hone, a whitepaper etc. :)

Well, as stated in my first post, iPhones.info was registered before Apple's iPhone was even announced. This is a strong point in a possible UDRP case from Apple but they don't own iPhone.com nor iPhones.com so it won't come to that.

Iphone

I 'm no attorney but if you purchased it before the announcement of iphone

I'm not sure how they can take it unless you just turn it over. Also you would have the argument that people have put the letter (i) and (e) in front of various internet names for many years. I have a name iGameSales.com

Don't just give that name up unles you absolutly have to. Hope you make a mint on it.

Remember: This is just my opinion.

iphone does have tm issues. To what degree, you may or may not find out sooner or later. You don't even need to go anywhere special to see that - type in iphone trademark into google and see for yourself the history of this mark.

Not true.

iphones.info Created On:26-Nov-2005

Another simple google search shows from a cisco company blog:
"Cisco owns the iPhone trademark. We have since 2000, when we bought a company called Infogear Technology, which had developed a product that combined web access and telephone. Infogearโ€™s registrations for the mark date to 1996, before iMacs and iPods were even glimmers in Appleโ€™s eye. We shipped and/or supported that iPhone product for years. We have been shipping new, updated iPhone products since last spring, and had a formal launch late last year. Apple knows this; they approached us about the iPhone trademark as far back as 2001, and have approached us several times over the past year."

Google knows everything. Use it.

I don't know about that. I've heard of cases where people have registered a business name for a long time & have been using it, then another newer company comes along later on, builds up a very successful business to be a huge business worldwide & TM their name & force the small business to stop operating using their original business name because they have the TM. Wouldn't this be the same in the online world?

Trademark under $500

I've seen various companies that will get your company, name, slogan trademarked for under $500

If it were true that a company that registered a trademark after you bought the online name could take it. Then everyone would be trademarking all valuable keyword names.

It may be argued that if you owned the name online which is world wide being internet. Then a company comes along and trademarked your name could be liable for damages if it decreased your income.

Definite TM problems. Whitebark is correct, Cisco is the one with the iPhone TM and they have had it way before you regged your name. It just wasnt as famous until Apple announced their iPhone. Apple had to work something out with Cisco to be able to use the name themselves.

What you say for the most part is true ... it is a flaw within the registration system that COULD be exploited but then again you have to ask yourself, is it really worth the legal fees to go this route or would it be cheaper to just buy the domain?
