Iphone - Tested One Out

I tested an iPhone out at the ATT store this afternoon. It seemed promising until I tried out its Internet feature. Godaddy took more than a minute to load. I felt like I was back using AOL dialup again.

I initially wanted to buy one so I could place last minute auction bids when I am away from the office. But after experiencing the iPhone's slow Internet access using ATT's wireless (not free wifi), and cumbersome web page manipulation, I think I'll just skip buying one for now and instead just get used to putting in higher reserves before I leave the office.

Try the HTC or Treo on a Sprint connection. Comparably spoken, Sprint is Broadband on steroids for cell phones.

Can we say .mobi :hehe: I have tried accessing .coms from various phones and it is slower than molassis!

Hopefully we'll see some nice advancements in the mobile world in 08'.

No offense, who needs .mobi if you use iPhone?

.Tel is coming out soon and .ph is not doing anything in mobile development despite Philippines is mobile capital of the world.

I started borrowing my son's PSP when we're in WiFi Hotspots. It has a pretty decent web browser (really!). However, I did notice that my Starbucks expenses are increasing. :)

Anyone tried the NDSL browser on those WIFI hotspots yet?

Not the iPhone's fault at all, all AT&T phones on their data package are like that. I have a cingular 8125 and it is not the fastest thing but can be a lifesaver at times.

iPhone Edge v. Wifi

I found a youtube video showing the two iPhones in action using a side by side comparison of ATT's Edge and wifi.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS4Z1njIjFc&feature=related

The wifi was great, but ATT's Internet access was a flashback to the beginning days of AOL on the Internet.

As for the HTC, the web experience is good on .mobi type sites, but it cannot deliver the full web experience like the iPhone can. That said, unless another PDA can show web sites like the iPhone, I see no other option but the iPhone for someone like me who is looking for a full mobile Internet experience; but I also feel that using it on ATT's Edge system is a waste of money.

All in all, it's like apples and oranges. Sometimes I like apples. Other times I like oranges. But at no time do I like taking a long time to eat my fruit.
