Initial reviews for the iPhone will not be overwhelmingly great, IMHO ... especially when compared with it's H.Y.P.E. :music:

The iphone looks cool, and I would like to play with one, but I can't help but compare it to my experience with remote controls. Around 2000 / 2001 timeframe, Philips sold a remote control called the Pronto. It was fully programmable, with a LCD touchscreen. It was revolutionary at the time, BUT, using a LCD touchscreen with such a small device sucks! If you look at any high end remote controls today, they have almost completely done away with LCD touchscreens and moved to hard buttons, with LCD screens to indicate what the hard buttons do.

Same thing with my Treo phone. I can dial the phone using the LCD touchscreen, but I find it more reliable to use the tiny hard buttons below the screen.

If anyone can pull the usability of a LCD touchscreen, it's probably Apple, so time will tell, but my prediction is future versions will incorporate hard button keyboards.

It may not be a phone, but talk about versatility. And I had just been looking at some magellan and other make navigators in the last few days.

Its a cool phone for sure, but way more then I need. I'm too busy working to walk around listening to music, downloading it, watching bulldogs on skateboards on youtube etc. Just need a freakin mobile phone. Can ya hear ya me now? haha!!!!!!!!!

From your signature i can see you hate .mobi so much, i still don't understand why you want to be a crusader trying to crush .mobi. Please just let us know the reason so we can understand you better.

Average people in the street don't seem to excited about the phone. At least not in this article in my local paper.
