How is this done? I want to introduce an exclusive currency (e.g. NP$ for Namepros) to my new forum. What's the best way to start it, and how can I ensure it's not a flop of an idea?
Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

the np$ currency is made possible by a vbulletin credit system. it's probably your best bet for a reliable system that will easily integrate with a forum.
jedik1, I highly respect open source forum. Still, I can't help but to believe that there's a difference between free softwares and one that's not only expensive but used by many respectable communities online...
Has anyone heard of a problem if some punter tries to withdraw loads at once? I know theyre worth a nominal amount only but with the bank crises, thought I would ask! :hehe:

I agree with you dezinerite very much. But I myself has not used paid forums much, so quite unaware of the features they offer. :td:
Anyways even if you are going for vB board then also you can use a CMS like Joomla(OOPS!! again open source) for your front end site and bridge it with vB and use Single Login and also Single currency system for your entire site. It will not only be helpful but will be a really loved feature for your visitors.
Fill your bank with money, then give away a lot of it to start with. Find a bunch of things you can "sell" in a store on the site. Have advertisers "donate" products and services and sell them at a discount. Just make sure you do things that give the currancy some real "value" and people should make use of it.
So, when is someone going to create a forum currency "exchange" and tie all these sites together...???
